  Cardigan- JCPenney long sleeve tshirt- JCPenney jeans- Levis scarf- Target shoes- Old Navy worn Feb. 2, 2014   I usually dress up for church, but some days I just don't feel like it. Sunday was one of those days where I just wanted to be comfortable. The temperature shift left me clueless about what to wear. I knew I needed light layers because it would be warm in the afternoon. So, I popped over to my pinterest style board and saw this pin . It was one of those aha moments where I realize I have similar items in my closet and they are so simple I would have totally overlooked wearing them together. Done. I really wanted to create a winter white mantel after Christmas, but to be honest with you, my mantel remained bare for about three weeks after we finally got Christmas packed away. So instead, I incorporated some white pieces into my Valentine's mantel and used the shabby white cloth garland I made for my parents' fiftieth wedding reception as inspiration to create somewhat of a shabby chic look. I used a white birdcage with a pair of white birds inside. I left the white and gold bow on it- gold decor is growing on me now. I also placed some glitter heart picks from the Dollar Tree in a white thrift store vase. I'm also using the same red frame I used last year  during Valentine's and on last year's fall mantel. I love that I have a collection of things I can swap out season to season. On the other side I'm using my glitter heart mason jar and the punched heart specimen art I made three years ago when I first started decorating for Valentine's...

Last weekend we had the honor and privilege of celebrating my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. I'm so thankful God blessed me with parents who have been an example and upheld marriage as He intended it. I had lots of fun preparing and decorating. The huge panels behind the food bar are there to hide the kitchen. The reception was held at their church social hall which hasn't been updated since 1986 so it takes a bit of work to make it magical.  I enlisted the help of the hubby to make a large "50" to hang on the panels. I purchased a sheet of poster size thin foam board from Dollar General and asked him to draw and cut the numbers. Each number is roughly the size of half a sheet of board. Once he cut them out, I wrapped them in gold/silver tinsel garland purchased on clearance after Christmas at Dollar General. It took six strands of 9 ft garland to cover the letters.   Shirt- JCPenney Sweater- Gap cable knit option pants- TJMaxx shoes- Ross tote- gift Worn Jan. 26, 2014   This has been the coldest winter thus far since I moved to my current location. All the others had been so mild, I had gotten rid of most of my sweaters. I have been in need of them this season. When I saw Caitlin at Southern Curls and Pearls in a white cable knit and red plaid, I knew that a white cable knit would be a good addition to my wardrobe.   This sweater that I'm wearing isn't a true cable knit, but I used rewards to get it free from Gap. The cable knits were sold out in my size. This one is really soft and comfy, so I'm happy, as long as it holds its shape.   Linking up to WIWW .
