He is Risen paper Easter banner

I've seen a lot of banners and handmade garland and such in blog land. I've been wanting to make my own since I started seeing them in the fall. I finally got around to this for Easter. My banner was the perfect finishing piece to my mantel decor. You see that I used most of the things I created to decorate my mantel: the broken jewelry cross , glitter eggs , butterfly specimen art , and egg topiary tree . Here's a closer look at the banner and a tutorial: Materials used: Cardstock Making Memories foam stamps- dingbats Paint Spellbinders cross die Making Memories Slice and basic cartridge for letters Martha Stewart lattice border punch flowers, punches, buttons, rhinestones, and other embellishments jute string *Cut cardstock into 4.25 x 5.5 inch pieces. I got four pennants from a piece of 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock. * Stamp dingbats on pennants. * While these dry, die cut crosses and letters. Prepare what ever other embellishments you need to. * Adhere...

CPS 187- Happy Halloween

Sharing a quick little card I made with TGF stamps using CPS 187 sketch . TGF had to challenge to make a regular stamp into a Halloween theme. I took a Dressy Anya and colored her in a Halloween theme. I put a spider button on her hat. Tip: I don't have the web border punch, so I punched strip and cut it apart for my corners. Paper: Making Memories, Bazzill cardstock Stamps: TGF Tools: Nestabilities, Martha Stewart border punch, Copics Accents: Button

Kisses

I'm back again with another card created for VC Stamp Challenges- A Black Tie Affair/ Elegant Colors and embellishments. What's more elegant than red and black? Maybe creams and whites, but I've got Valentine's on the brain now and I'm ready to put some of my ideas into action. I used the sketch from All Sorts and to complete their challenge I have used papers from my old stash. I accidentally fit in the Crazy for Challenges challenge too- polka dots. I wasn't trying to make a card for this just yet, but when I turned my paper over, I realized I had polka dots! Here is my card: Stamp: VC Kisses Digi; Studio G February set Paper: Making Memories Love Notes Tools: Copics: E57, E35, E00, E39, C2, C6, YG17, YG67, N5, N7, N9, C10, R29, BV23, C4, Y17, Y08; Nestabilities ovals, labels four Accents: Rhinestones (Michael's)

Technique Thursday/ paper tearing

This week's technique is one that requires no special tools and anyone can do this. The above layout (please excuse the poor scan, it was my first attempt at scanning a 12 x12 layout and stitching it together in my photo software) features many torn edges that add texture to the layout. The photo mat was torn and the edges were rolled. To tear paper for your project you can grab it and rip by hand or use a ruler and tear along the edge of the ruler if you want a neater edge. Thick double sided card stock, like the vintage collection paper from Making Memories above, works best with the paper tearing technique, as you get an exposed white edge. Whether you tear towards you or away from you will dictate which side your white edge is on. Tearing towards you with your right hand will result in the edge on the right hand side of a piece and tearing towards you with the left hand gives you an exposed edge on the left side of a piece. You can also make paper tearing easier by wetting a s...

Rockin Birthday card

I just finished making birthday cards for the neighbors' girls. They have birthdays six days apart. I'm late with one of them. I thought I would share the cards with you. The first one was inspired by a card with the same sentiment published in the March 2008 PaperCrafts Magazine. I made it my own with different colors and stickers. I printed "hope your birthday" on beige cardstock with "Da Bomb" font. (I have so many fonts - I forgot where I got this one.) I also used Making Memories handwriting stickers, a guitar and record from Karen Foster The Fifties, and a Design Lines sticker from Mrs. Grossman's . I mounted the beige piece on a 5x7 card made from pink cardstock. I think I did pretty good using my "stash" for this. The second card was designed using a sketch from splitcoaststampers.com. I used more stuff from my stash. The paper came from a lot I bought at Ebay and I have no idea what brand it is. The cute ribbon I got at Target in the d...
