Cupcake liner trees

These cute little cupcake liner trees are another idea I saw while perusing magazines. (We spend a good many evenings at Books a Million drinking coffee and hanging out. Of course, you can find me in the back looking at the eye candy magazines.) These are so easy to do.   Find some cute cupcake liners. I picked up mine at Michael's 75/$1.00 and they had a bonus mini liner set in them. If I get around to making treats, I'll use those mini liners. Cut the center circle of the liner out.   You will be left with a ruffle that you can then glue or pin to a cone. I had some styrofoam cones in my stash. I decided to pin mine on. (Less committment- I can take them off if I need the cone for something else.) When you reach the top you will have an adorable ruffled tree. I made two of them and they have a home on my Christmas mantel now. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be sharing here: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop...

Christmas vignettes

I used to only decorate the mantel and a tree (or two to four), but since living in our current home, I've come to love creating vignettes on the sofa table. Really it's a book shelf, but it functions as a sofa table behind my couch. This year I used some of the same materials as last year but added my new snow globes. I grounded the globes on a silver charger and added some faux snow. I placed some of my village figurines around the globes. They haven't been out in years.   The "wise men still seek him" and glitter nativity are still the center, as Jesus should be the center of it all.    On the other end are my mini trees that I created last year. I elevated them this time on a clear pedestal plate that I made. I also added faux snow around them and place some more figurines at the bottom. I added some washi tape to  clear candle holders to bring in a little more of the colors I'm using. Epsom salts makes snow in ...

Fuzzy trees

Day 5 Welcome to Day 5 of Creating Christmas! The days are flying by! Two more days and there will be an awesome link party for you to share what you've been creating. In my mantel post , you may have noticed my fuzzy trees. These are too easy to do! Get a cone. I used styrofoam cones from the Dollar Tree. The fur is a craft boa from Michael's. One will do a cone this size (8 inch). For those of you who don't like committment, you will love this part. Pin the boa on with straight pins! Pin your trims on too.  I used some pom pom ribbon and more of the tinsel garland from Target that I have mentioned already on the white one. For the red one I just wrapped a narrow red and white polka dot ribbon around. My hubby even loved these! (Then again lime green is his favorite color and he owns a sport bike this color. Can't miss him coming!) I'll be sharing at all of these great places: Holly Bloggy Christmas Craft party Think Pi...

Ribbon and ornament trees

Day 4 I hope you have been enjoying this week of Creating CHRISTmas. Click on the banner above for a link to a list of other participants and make sure you visit them as well. Today I'm sharing some easy to make mini Christmas trees. If you saw my mantel post, you saw them displayed on my mantel. You'll need styrofoam cones. (You could make paper cones for two of them, but I recommend a sturdier foam cone for the one with the ornaments.) I used 7 and 9 inch cones. You'll also need an assortment of small ball ornaments, ribbon, and other picks or embellishments. For the first one, I randomly glued on a few ornaments and then made rows of my ribbon in between. Take the ribbon and make sort of a half loop and twist it and make another half loop and continue around the cone in this manner. Secure the ribbon to the cone at the twists. I used straight pins. Add in other embellishments. I used a few berry picks and some star tinsel garland from Target. I ...
