Last year I began to notice so many pretty garlands floating around in blogland. I fell in love and, time permiting, I would have one for each season/ holiday. But notice I said- TIME PERMITTING. So far I've only made an Easter banner . My fall mantel sure could have used a garland. SO, garlands are still on my must do list. Am I the only one who waits until the end of November to make gifts and decorations?  I've tried out a couple of cone trees this week to use in my decorating. I had two foam cones from the Dollar Tree (no longer there! ugh- I wanted more). I wrapped one with some yarn remnants I got at the Thrift Store ( same bag I made my wreath from). I added some sequins with pins randomly and topped it with a Dollar General store ornament. I took another cone and glued on blue glass pebbles from the Dollar Tree. Soon I'll be dressing my mantel for Christmas, but before I do, I wanted to share my fall decor. I didn't spend a lot of time or money on this because it's only up for a few weeks between Halloween and Christmas, but I've enjoyed in nonetheless. On one side I used my ribbon pumpkins and topiaries and pulled in some candles I normally use in other places of my home. On the other side I used candles, vases, and books I already had. I used a bag of pinto beans for the filler in the candles and picked up a wire pumpkin arrangement from Big Lots clearance. It's simple but suits me! Thanks for stopping by. I had some fun this week playing around with felt flowers. Most of these flowers I have made before, but not with felt. I tried two variations of the pom pom. I made this one with the usual method of folding circles in quarters and gluing them around a circle. This one I made by scrunching my circles, as shown here.

I featured some pumpkin projects a while back on a Must Do Monday . I've wanted to do some of these since last year, but I'm so unwilling to pay the price for craft pumpkins, even the sale price. I got lucky during the spring and found some small ones at a yard sale. I thought I'd do a version for Halloween, but didn't get to it. So I've done some fall versions to replace the Halloween decor.

I packed up the Halloween decor last weekend (I never got around to posting and sharing it with you), and replaced it with some fall/Thanksgiving decor. Here's what's on my sofa table/ bookshelf. It's pretty much the same as last year , but this time I used the candles in the holders and placed the pumpkins on the other side, with one on a pedestal. It's hard to photograph this area because there is a column that separates the living area from the dining area right in front of this table, but you get the idea. I worked on some Christmas cards this weekend (I know I'm behind schedule compared to die hard stampers). I always turn to challenges and sketches for inspiration so I played along with a few challenges. Crazy4Challenges had a "wrap it up" challenge.  I made a gift card holder . I've been bitten by the bug and had to make a yarn wreath like everyone else. This was very easy to do. I used a foam wreath form for mine and yarn that I got from the thrift store. I managed to get almost a full skein and a huge bag of odds and ends for $3.00. I have enough to make another wreath in another color.  Tutorials for the wreaths and flowers can be found in the links in this post.   I chose fall colors but since I have a fall wreath that I made last year and my storage space is running out, I'll be shipping this one to my mom. The colors are a little off since I had to photograph this at night. The small flower to the bottom is more yellow/golden that it appears here.
