Paper straw frame

I'm just popping in tonight with a quick little DIY project- a paper straw picture frame. I started with a blank wood frame from Michaels. I painted it with a coat of white paint. Once it was dry, I measured the width of the edges and cut the straws to fit. I found these straws in the clearance bin at Michael's. They were Christmas straws but also perfect for Valentine's Day. I glued each straw piece with hot glue. Simple. Boo googly eye Halloween frame

Monday's post featured "googly eye" projects. I'm quite taken with the picture frame I featured and decided to make my own. I got an unfinished wood frame by Plaid from Wal-mart. I had some eyes from the Dollar Tree left over from another project and some assorted sizes from Michaels. I first painted my frame black. (I only painted the outside of the stand and backing, the photo will  hide the inside.) I then randomly placed eyes until I had covered the frame. I used good ole Elmer's glue to glue them on because I didn't feel like burning myself with hot glue. I decided I needed to add a little something so I pulled some chipboard pieces from my scrapbooking stash. I found some letters to spell boo, painted them green, and filled in the "o"s with eyes. I can't wait to get a picture in the frame and work this into my Halloween decor. Sharing here: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop * Creative B...

Sisal rope frame

After falling in love with sisal rope projects and the nautical flair they can add to coastal decor, I decided to try my hand at making my own rope picture frame. This mirror was my inspiration piece: source It's really quite easy. All you need is a frame, sisal rope, and a hot glue gun (with glue of course.) I started with this frame from Michael's. It had a flat surface, the original color would not look bad if any showed through, and it was on clearance. The rope came from Wal-mart. I just started gluing around and around until I couldn't glue any more rope on. You may have noticed the inspiration piece left the corners exposed but I wanted to cover mine, so I cut short pieces of rope and filled in the corners. When I was done, I ran one long piece of rope all the way around the outer edges. Here it is finished: I decided later that it needed something else, so I added a starfish I had on hand. It is now part of my coastal sofa table vign...
