WIWW- bright shorts

Shirt- Target shorts- Gap shoes- Payless tote- Banana Republic jewelry- gifted and thrifted   Last weekend I had some errands to run and we were also contemplating a trip to the zoo. The zoo trip never happened but just in case, I had on my comfy sandals. I also wanted to dress up a bit beyond a white tee and shorts so I added the contrasting bright accessories.   Speaking of accessories, I've added some earrings , bracelet and brooches back to my etsy shop. Please stop by and check them out.   Linking up to WIWW .

Coastal Summer Mantel

Hope everyone has been having a great summer. I finally got around to updating my mantel for summer. I always bring out the coastal decor for summer.   Bowls and hurricanes filled with shells and some coastal potpourri/filler that I picked up at Michael's a few years ago help act as fillers. This year I added a few new touches with the old. The salt dough starfish is back. Imaging my delight at finding a blue Ball (mason) jar at the thrift store for 50 cents. I knew it was going on my mantel so it had to come home with me. I filled it with some blue deco sand and a few pieces of driftwood. It's about the seahorses this year. The ceramic seahorse I found a few years ago is on the other side of the mantel with the burlap sea shell art and my  jute wrapped discover bottle. On one side of the hearth I placed a lantern and some more shells.  On the other side of the hearth, I placed a large hurricane filled with shells. This completes my co

Chevron ladybug frame

I've got a stack of unfinished wooden frames that need to be turned into fun usable frames, so I dug in and created this chevron ladybug frame with the help of chevron shaped Frog tape. I don't know why I didn't try it sooner for chevrons. It's great! I got a nice clean finish with it.

DIY PVC photo background stand

Did you catch my round up of DIY Photo backgrounds ? Today I'm sharing how I've been taking some of my photos for a couple of years. My sweet hubby put this PVC backdrop stand together for me. We loosely based it on this tutorial , but adapted it for a tabletop stand, since most of my blog projects are smaller and will fit in front of a smaller backdrop. This is the assembled stand. I put a piece of foam board in the back to hide my junk, but then I decided I'd let you see it so below is just the stand. (and my unorganized junk in the background.) To make your own you will need: 1/2 inch PVC schedule 40 a cutting tool 2 tees 4 end caps 2 90 degree elbows clamps Cut your PVC as follows:3- 25 inch pieces, 4- 6 inch pieces, and 2- 14 inches pieces. The four 6-in pieces make the base by connecting to the tees and are capped off with end caps. One of the 25 inch pieces makes the top and the two 14-in pieces make the sides. The elbows connect them. T

Now I've got to come up with some work appropriate ways to wear it, because my favorite looks are with jeans and sleeveless tops. That won't be allowed on my job. What do you think of the sleeveless blazer/vest trend? Linking up with WIWW.

Mini towel basket

Today I'm sharing a quick little update I made to a mini laundry basket. It's so easy I'd hardly call it a craft, but for me the results are big and I love the visual interest it creates. I ran across this post from Creative Green Living a while back and was inspired to make my own version. I already a Dollar Tree basket in place in the laundry room on top of the washer for dish towels. It's easier to toss them there than to take them out to where the other dirty laundry is stored. (Nope - the other dirty laundry is not in the laundry room because I don't really have a laundry ROOM. It's a pass through to the kitchen just big enough for the washer and dryer). I love typography, fonts and labels so this was perfect for me. It might seem weird to you but I love having the label on the basket. Here's the before: And the after: I cut my letters from black vinyl using my Silhouette SD and Franklin Gothic Demi font. I measured the area that
