A look back

Once you've blogged for a few years and have over 1,000 posts, it's easy for things to get lost and can be a little difficult for new readers to find things. 'd really like to get things organized by topic under tabs at the top. For now, I thought I'd start highlighting some of my older posts and projects in an end of the month round up. So here goes " a look back" at August posts in years past.   Braided wrap bracelet     Ruffle tank     Beaded wrap bracelet     Ann Taylor Loft inspired cuff     Singed chiffon flowers         Bib necklace       No stamping BOO card   Looks like I was really into jewelry for while, especially bracelets. Hope you've enjoyed our little trip back in time. Sharing at some of these places: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop * Creative Bloggers Party and Hop * Craftoma...

Shabby Apple necklace giveaway-CLOSED

It's time to get ready for the holidays. For some of us, that means parties, women's dresses, little girls dresses, and accessories, including vintage jewlery. I've got an exciting giveaway for you to help get ready from Shabby Apple - a Key to Wonderland necklace! Isn't it beautiful? It'd make a great gift for someone or for yourself.

Everything's coming up roses (or rosettes)

Okay, I'll admit that title is a little cheesy! Do you ever struggle with post titles? Anyway, I've been making rosettes for quite some time now, and I think rosette necklaces are the perfect accessory when you need to match or coordinate color with an outfit or add a pop of color to an outfit. A couple of weeks ago I needed something to tie an outfit together so I whipped us this necklace in about an hour.

Treasuries

I don't normally toot my own horn, but I had some of my etsy items make it into a couple of beautiful treasuries over the weekend. Go take a look. There are lots of great items by very creative artists there. Hurry Springtime Black and red Have a great week.

What's in the shop

I recently added new items to my etsy shop - handmade jewelry .  I love to make stuff but can't keep it all. Sometimes I make something for myself and then make a similar item with the leftovers. You've probably seen most of it on here already but you may not know that it's for sale. Maybe you wanted something you saw but didn't want to invest in the time or supplies to make it. Go ahead and splurge - get it for yourself. You'll be glad you purchased handmade. Here are the items for sale: Repurposed fabric rosette necklace Memory wire bracelet Fabric rosette bib necklace Braided ribbon necklace If you are buying a gift for someone else, pick up a handmade greeting card to go with it.

Repurposed yard sale jewelry

I've recently taken an interest in vintage jewelry and in shopping yard sales for finds. I've also taken an interest in jewelry, so I've combined all of this into this fun piece: a fabric rosette bib necklace! The chain for this piece is actually two bracelets. The bracelets are a yard sale find- I got twenty plus bracelets for $2.50! I took the clasp off opposite ends of the two bracelets so I'd have a matching clasp once they were attached. The chains have been sewn onto the felt base. Fabric rosettes were glued to the felt base as well. The rhinestone button in the center is from a thrift store cardigan purchase ( I like the cardigan but did not think the buttons went well with it, so that's another item to "remake" for another day). The cabachons on each side are earrings, also a yard sale find.  I took the backs off and glued felt circles to the back of the earrings. I then cut another set of circles and the chain is sandwiched between the two cir...

Crafting for charity

There is an upcoming charity auction at my hubby's work place. Items will be auctioned in return for canned food for a local food bank. I made this fabric bib necklace for the auction. I added a vintage clip earring and some pearls and other baubles for accents. I love combining colors and fabrics. I had so much fun that I made another one to list in  my esty shop . You can see it  HERE. I'm linking up at the parties listed on the side. Thanks for looking.

What I've been up to

This past week I played with fabric some more. I've made a dress (come back tomorrow and I'll share it) and I finished up this- a rolled flower bib necklace. Are you sick of these yet? I'm a little slow getting around to trying all the latest and greatest so this is my first one. If you haven't made one yet, you should. They are fairly easy. I studied the rosette flower tutorials at You Can Make This ( tutorial link is within the post), The Woman Who Couldn't Sit Still , and Erin Bassett , and a few others. Ultimately I decided that I liked my flowers made by tying a knot in the end of the strip for the rose "center" and then just twist and roll, gluing with some fabric glue as I go. I tuck and glue the end to the back and then glue the flower to the felt. When it dries, I cut it away so you can't see the felt. I then arranged my flowers on felt and glued, cut away again so you can't see it. I glued on ribbon, sewed and glued pearl...
