Spring projects revisited

I've been a little MIA this week. I've spent more of my time in the kitchen than in the craft room. One of my goals this year is to eat healthier, so I've been cooking a lot lately. We are eating whole natural foods and there is a lot of chopping, cutting and cooking involved. That's okay, I like to cook. It's the dirty dishes I don't care much for. Anyway, I popped in here to talk about spring crafts. It seems like everyone is getting the itch for spring and I've been seeing lots of great spring projects in blogland. I thought I'd pull up a couple of my older projects that have gotten lost on the blog. This little butterfly and daisy arrangement sits in my guest bath, giving me a dose of spring year round. Find the details here. These punched pomander balls are still a lot of fun to have around too. Are you ready for spring? I'll be sharing these here: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop * Craftom...

Butterflies and daisies

Butterflies and daisies are two of my favorite things. My grandmother used to grow gerbera daisies. After she passed away, my mom transplanted them at her house. I love all of their vivid bright summer colors. Maybe I should grow some of my own.... Okay, that's another story for another day. Let's just say I didn't inherit that green thumb. Since I don't have any of my own growing, I made myself an arrangement with some artificial ones from Michaels. (Purchased during a 60% off sale.) My inspiration came from a project at Joann's but my arrangement is so far from the original, it's not worth showing for comparison. I've totally made this my own project. I started with this container that's been in my stash for a few years (an after Christmas clearance purchase). I pulled out some old papers from my scrapbook stash. I mean old, like some of the first ones purchased in 2003. (Please tell me I'm not the only one with stuff that old.) I cut the p...

Butterfly specimen art

Specimen art or punch collages have become quite popular. My first one was a heart specimen art for Valentines . I knew I'd have to do this again for spring with butterflies, since they are one of my favorite things. Ali Edwards has a popular version. Instead of the black frame I used for my heart art, I took an 8 1/2 x 11 wood frame from Dollar Tree and painted it white. I used a piece of kraft scrapbook paper for my background. It turned out okay. Now that I'm looking at the picture, I see a couple that are not exactly straight. I should have used the grid offered by Jen at Tatertots and Jello.  I was lazy and just "eyeballed" it.  Oh well, we'll pretend those few are trying to flutter away. Looking forward to the weekend! I'll be linking up to the parties on the side.

Both cards I'm sharing tonight have something round- circles. That did not even occur to me until I got ready to write this post. They are based on two different sketch challenges. I didn't even start out to complete the Flourishes challenge but I put buttons on here and remembered that challenge is for buttons. Something for Saturday

Just sharing some photos that my hubby, nephew, and I took at my parents' last month. These little creatures intrigue me. I chased these guys for a long time trying to get some decent shots. They were very active and did not want to sit still.
