Yippee!!

That's what this little character looks like he's saying. I wish I felt that energetic, but seeing as how it is late and I worked in the yard again, I don't feel any energy. I did muster up this card for a few challenges. I recently discovered Karen's Doodles and have fallen in love with her images. I just bought a few, but have actually used a freebie from the PCP group for this card. This week's challenge is a sketch. I've combined it with Digital Tuesday's paper piecing challenge and I paper pieced the balloons. I used the birthday theme from Creative Card Crew and the embossing and ribbon give it texture, so I'm submitting this card at Cute Card Thursday as well. Here ya go: Thanks for looking and goodnight!

Two in one

Given the limited time I have, I often combine challenges. This one combines two: Whiff of Joy challenge and Friday Sketchers . This was my first time paper piecing with my stamps. I have done this with patterns before but not my stamps. I should do this more often. Here's a little tip for you. I didn't have any flowers to match, so I colored white ones with my markers. This is an easy way to always have matching or coordinating embellishments! Stamps: Whiff of Joy, Verve Paper : HOTP; Bazill; BasicGrey Sugared Accents : Flowers, pearls Tools : Sizzix die

I scream for ice cream

Chocolate ice cream. Today is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Next month there will be a National Ice Cream Day, but today is just for CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM. It's origin is unknown, but hey, I don't have to know much to enjoy a bowl of chocolate ice cream. Even though it's not chocolate, I made a cute paper piecing to share. It has glitter accents and pop dots for dimension.

National Hamburger Day

Yep, that's right. Today is National Hamburger Day. Not a Congress declared day, but how much more American can you get than a big juicy grilled burger? (Actually it may be German, with roots in Hamburg, Germany, but it has become very American.) So today is the day to celebrate it. Do you think that you have to wait on the man of the house to do the grilling? Nope, check out all the tips you need to know here at Girls at the Grill. But if you prefer to let him do the work, grab your camera and take some pictures of the family enjoying the cookout. I made the perfect little paper piecing to commemorate this day and to adorn your scrapbook pages of your grilling event. It measures about two inches. Look for it in my shop soon. A little tip about working with tiny pieces like this- tweezers. They keep your fingers from getting sticky.
