DIY paper box (without a die cut machine)

I saw this cute idea at the Silhouette blog, but I have the SD and cannot cut 12 inch files, so I made a box for a flower gift the old fashioned way. I'll show you how. These make great teacher's, thinking of you friend, or mother's day gifts. I know Mother's Day is passed and for most of you, you are done with teacher gifts, but they really work for any occasion. Here is one I made for a friend just to cheer her up. (She later told me she put an air plant in her box so she could take it to work and keep the box - awesome idea since the box won't hold up to watering a regular plant.)

Ribbon spool into gift box or album - Fabulous Friday Finds

I am in love with this idea that I found over at In My Own Style  - turning ribbon spools into gift boxes. What a genius way to repurpose, reuse and save! You must go check it out. Here's another way to use those empty ribbon spools - make a cute photo album . Thougthts of a Card Making Scrapbooker shows you how. Both of these ideas would be great for Mother's Day. Have a great weekend!

God's conversation hearts

Here's a quick little Valentine's day gift I'm putting together for our Sunday School class members. I can't take credit for the sayings and verses. You can find a printable for that part HERE. I purchased Ferrara brand conversation hearts in mini boxes from Wal-mart. Here are the dimensions for the box/tent I made. Cut a strip 2 1/4 inches wide from a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock. At 4 1/4 inches, score. Score again 1 inch from that score line. Trim so that remaining section is 5 1/2 inches. Score that piece 1 1/4 from end. Fold on score lines. I attached my box inside the tent with a glue dot. I folded the top tab over, and punched a heart out of red cardstock. I punched holes through the heart and folded and front layer of cardstock. I then ran a ribbon through the holes to tie it together. I got those cute pom pom critters from Michael's and I'm just attaching one to each box - just because they are cute. Here is a side view of my box....
