Christmas table decor and some easy DIYs

Day One I'm kicking off Creating Christmas with an overview of my Christmas table decor and some super quick diy ideas you can use in creating a Christmas table setting. These will also lend themselves to other holidays.

Hear no, see no , speak no evil

We've finally gotten the majority of the Halloween projects and decorations up. The hubby will tinker with his things in the yard daily until Halloween, but I'm done inside the house. All that's left is to share with you in case you need some last minute ideas. Here is my dining room centerpiece for this year, inspired by a project at Michael's . I already had items on hand, so I didn't have to go to Michael's this time to make it. Here's the whole table. I used the same mats and napkin rings from last year . I've got a piece of creepy cloth from the Dollar Tree under the tray for a table runner. This is a quick and easy project, most of which you can get from the Dollar Tree or Dollar store. Throw some moss on the tray and a few bugs and spiders to add to the effect. A week long endeavor...ruffled table runner

Last year I bookmarked Jen's (Tatertots and Jello) ruffled burlap runner as a project to try. Last weekend I decided it was time and that I wanted one with Easter time pastel colors to go under a centerpiece. (I've still got to put the centerpiece together, it's still an idea in my head.) After fighting with my machine to make ruffles for a week, and running out of thread on day three, I have finished. Let me clarify a little- in addition to having issues with the machine and having to redo some stitching and work on the machine, I only had about thirty minutes each night to sew. Thus, a week long project. Mine is not nearly as neatly done as Jen's. We'll just say mine is more "shabby".  I'm not going to post a tutorial either. No need to reinvent the wheel. Her tutorial is great and you can find another one at Oopsey Daisy . I used materials from my stash which is really my grandmother's stash. (She passed away almost eight years ago, but I co...

Easy napkin ring and table decor

I wanted to freshen up the decor after Christmas and really wanted some white in my home for the new year. I previously shared my white vignette with you. Here is how I very easily freshened up the dining room table. I added some white candles and flowers. I purchased a couple of 99 cent bunches of gerbera daisies from Michael's. One bunch went into the vase. I took another bunch and clipped off the flowers from the stems. I wrapped some floral wire around the small piece of stem left on the back of the flower and formed a loop. I slid some ribbon into the loop and tied them to my napkins. Very easy napkin rings! Hope you have a great week. I'll be linking up to the parties on the side and Get Your Craft On.

The table is set

I waited until today to decorate the dining room table for Valentine's Day because I didn't think  I would really want to look at the stuff all that long. I've never really decorated for Valentine's Day. However, I'm quite pleased with my setting and may have to leave it up for a while. I'm more pleased with the fact that I only spent about $14 to achieve this. I purchased three packs of paper heart doilies, three bunches of roses,  one bunch of babies breath, and a pack of heart glitter picks from the Dollar Tree. I got a set of napkins from Tuesday Morning. Everything else I already had. I created a runner from the doilies and then used some for place mats. I added the glitter heart picks to the bouquet. Hubby really likes it too. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be linking up to the parties on the side.
