Happy World Card Making Day

It's World Card Making Day. I really need a holiday like this. LOL, like I really need an excuse to make a card or craft. I do need the push to start those Christmas cards. I hope to make some cards to share here with you later today, but hubby says we are painting and doing some house projects, so we'll see what happens. While you're here browse around- I do have plenty of cards posted. Maybe something will inspire you. And... to celebrate I have a little "candy". Just leave me a comment to let me know you visited. You have until Sunday October 3 at  8:00 p.m.  Spread the word too- twitter, facebook, your blog, wherever. I'm also giving away a set of four handmade cards. You can enter to win that HERE . (Comment on this post for the above candy only.)

Halloween candy cake

It's October 1! That means 30 days 'til Halloween! We have so much fun with Halloween here. ( Check out my handmade greeting card giveaway HERE .) Here's a great conversation piece for your Halloween functions and parties: I wish a I had a better picture but I made this years ago before I ever thought about blogging. Here's a quick how to: The base is a cardboard hat box lid. Turn boxes upside down and stack them from largest to smallest, however many layers you want. This one just has two. You could paint them first I suppose it you don't want the cardboard peeking through. I'm not sure how that would affect the ability to stick the candy on. I attached the candies with double sided tape. After I had all of my candy on, I went back and attached toy eyeballs, bats, spiders, hand, etc. So much fun. Thanks for looking. I'll be linking up to the great parties listed on the side.

Card for a cause

I love to create when I can do so for a good purpose. Cammie at My Blog is having a card drive to thank the caretakers of Alzheimer's patients. You can read all about it here.  There is an awesome prize package to go with it. Here is my card: Papers: Cosmo Cricket Stamps: Verve Ink: Memento Accents: Stickles, rhinestones, flowers Tools: Nestabilities I always look to a great sketch for inspiration and for a jumping off point. I've used this week's sketch at CardPatterns. Crazy4Challenges is calling for some bling this week so I'll be linking up there too. Thanks for looking. Don't forget to enter my handmade card giveaway . I could certainly use the feedback.

Super cute dress giveaway

So, I've posted some giveaways this week (while I've taken a break from card making- more on that later) and here is another one for a super cute handmade dress from Ruffles and Roses. Go to this post to enter. I've started following sewing a bit and this is a great blog to visit. My grandmother sewed and I took a class and made some wearable pieces in high school. I just dropped it and now I'm taking up the interest again. Well, really my husband took over my machine and made a pair of mesh pants and a shirt for a costume he's making and IF HE CAN DO IT, so can I. That's sort of motivated me.

Blog Candy-Closed

Wow! I've passed 12,000 hits! So it's time to pick a winner. I'll be back later with the lucky name. Winner announced HERE. Sometime before Christmas my blog counter hit 10,000 hits. I totally missed it. But I wanted to celebrate so I'm putting together a candy for 12,000 hits. I'll draw for this candy sometime after I hit that mark. What you see above is not all. I'll be adding to it because I'm clearing out supplies as I work on projects and some of them will go in this stash. Some will go to charity. I'm sure some ribbon will end up here and maybe some stamped images for you. If you want a chance to win, please do the following: 1) Become a follower. (For every 10 new followers, I'll add another piece of candy beyond what you see. If you are already a follower, thanks. You will automatically be entered. Big Announcement

I'm excited to announce that I have been chosen to serve on a design team for Digital Stamp Oasis from Feb. 1- April 1. I'm going to have so much fun playing with these great digi images and sharing them. One of my first digi purchases was from Digital Stamp Oasis- Sammy Squirrel eats strawberries . Even though the term hasn't started, I used Sammy to make a card for a few challenges. Here he is: This is for the Digital Tuesday sketch , Charisma Cardz- use fruity colors/fruit images , and Simon Says - use punches . I used my MS zig zag border punch. I colored Sammy with Prismacolor pencils. The coral color panel was embossed with my Sizzix Texture Boutique machine. Thanks for looking. I'll be back later to add my DSO design team blinkie and a list of the other team members to my sidebar. For now, please visit the DSO blog My Creative Moments to meet the other team members and pay them a visit! And don't forget I have BLOG CANDY!! I may really beef this up now in ce...

A Rose for you

Happy Saturday morning! I hope you have a great day. We will be continuing the home/ bedroom redo project- painting- so maybe in between coats I'll get to make a few cards. The card you see above involves no stamping. Actually, I did stamp an image and didn't like it, so I pulled the die cut out and covered it up. This card is made with Basic Grey sugared papers . You can get them from KL Stampin N Scrappin Store . Right now they are offering some awesome blog candy on their blog . To enter, you must make a project using items sold in their store. I cut my circles with Nestabilities circle and scallop circle dies, which they also carry. I used this week's sketch from CPS as the layout for this card.

Candy for a cause

Jen Tapler is hosting a big blog candy challenge. Read all about the candy HERE . You have to create a card and mail to to her. The best part about the whole thing is that the cards will be used in an auction to raise money for Alzheimer's. I love it when I can make cards and support good causes. You have a few days left to get in on the candy, and plenty of time to send a card even if you're not interested in the goodies. Here is my card. I based it on the Mojo Monday week 79 sketch. Stamps : Heidi Grace; Studio G sentiment Paper: Hot off the Press Tools : embossing powder, heat gun, Marthat Stewart Doily punch Accents : Ribbon (Offray)
