Valentines for my sweetheart

I'm putting together a basket of some of my hubby's favorite candies as a little Valentine's gift for him.  I made tags for each candy with cheesy cute sayings on them. You may have already seen some of these around blogland and around Pinterest.   A couple of them are my own version, (at least I have not seen them anywhere else). I printed the sayings on cardstock and punched them out with circle and circle scalloped punches. I used K&CO. scrapbook papers, ribbon, and some stickers from my stash to make the tags. Each candy is packaged in a clear cello bag. Milk Duds- Life without you would be a DUD. Starbursts- My heart BURSTS with love for you. Red Hots- You're a Hottie! Tootsie rolls- I like the way you roll. Twizzlers- You twizzle my fancy! (My play on you "tickle my fancy".) Hershey's kisses- I love your kisses. Any candy in a shovel- I DIG you. Punched flower pomander decor balls

I've been trying to get a new post up for four days now. Earlier in the week, I thought I'd schedule ahead, but that didn't happen. And then this morning I sat down to link up to some parties and intended to get the post done, but I got caught up in following link after link to some great blogs and lovely eye candy and my time ran out. Does this ever happen to you? Is blogland full of too much stuff? Anyway, here is a project I've been working on for a while and recently finished. I've admired all the flower punch pomanders out there like these  at WhipperBerry and decided to make my own to fill a glass bowl on my bathroom counter.  I don't have the same punch as the one in the tutorial I linked, but I like mine just the same. I did two layers and folded up the petals on the top layer. I also used a second punch for my flower centers.  This can be a little time consuming, but worth the effort. I also decided to do some with silk hydrangea blooms from some b...

Altered mini jar candles

I picked up these mini jar candles at Wal-mart's after Christmas clearance for 25 or 50 cents each. I had Valentine's Day gifts in mind for these. I took out some paper scraps, punches, rhinestones, Prima flowers and ribbon and had a blast decorating these. I think I'll be on the lookout for more to decorate for spring and Easter. I started with this and ended up with this I made five total. Here they are: These were a lot of fun to make. I'll be linking up to All Things Inspired Blue Cricket Design Show and Tell Whatever goes Wednesday and others. Check out the list on the side.

Heart art

I finally got around to a Valentine's project. I made a heart specimen art. I plan to put this on my mantel, but as it stands, I have no other Valentine's decor as I have never really decorated for Valentine's. My goal is to have some more stuff made by next weekend to go with it. I used papers from my "scraps" and did not have to cut into a full sheet of paper. I used my Marvy mega and giga heart punches and a Martha Stewart embossed heart punch to get three layers.  I used an 11x14 frame from the Dollar Tree and placed kraft colored cardstock in it as a base. There is a seam near the bottom third because I had to use two sheets of paper but you can only tell up close. The bottom heart is attached with a pop dot as well as the top heart for lots of dimension. I'm pretty happy with my first "specimen" art piece. Thanks for stopping by.
