Stamps and Smiles Sketch Set

There is a brand new stamp site called Stamps and Smiles. To celebrate the opening and release of this new line of stamps, there was a series of sketches on the Stamps and Smiles blog . I made these cards using the sketches. I used JessicaLynnOriginals stamps. Papers are by Making Memories Boho chic collection.

Our Daily Bread Sketch

and a technique challenge too. Tonight I'm sharing my card that I made earlier this week for the Our Daily Bread sketch challenge . I combined it with the High Hopes challenge this week- sponging. I left my panel in the Nestabilities die and sponged some brown and pink ink on the edges. I also added some ink to the die before cutting out the panel- that's how I got that cool border. Stamps : Our Daily Bread Design Paper : Hot Off the Press Accents : Ribbon (Michaels), Crystal lacquer Tools : Nestabilities labels two die

Luck of the Irish

Isn't it funny how you can see something and it does nothing for you, like a sketch, or idea? But then one day something else makes it click and inspires an idea for you. That's how it was for the Mojo Monday sketch this week and the Etsygreetings team challenge. At first the sketch didn't spark much interest, but then OCC issued a challenge yesterday to use a tag and I remembered the Mojo sketch had the perfect place for a tag. The Etsygreetings team challenge is to make a St. Patrick's Day card, and I'm not real big on those, but I did buy a few green embellies. The Dutch Dare Card challenge is to use green and yellow. I recently bought this green and yellow ribbon so with all this prompting from all these sources, it finally came together. Here is my card. Stamps : Rubber stampede, heart; studio G Paper : imagination project; sonburn Accents : Stickles, brad, Making Memories metal rim vellum tag; ribbon (Michael's) A few details: I stamped four hearts and cut

Simple sympathy

I used the sketch from CPS this week for a sympathy card I needed to make. And even before I checked in on the Timeless Tuesday challenge at Flourishes, I knew I wanted to use this flower stamp. As it turned out, the Timeless Tuesday challenge is to use flowers. I like this card because it's simple and peaceful to look at. The sketch is really clean. I added a little more texture by stitching and tearing and rolling the edges. Enough from me, have a peek for yourself.

Whew!

What a long busy day. And now it's time for bed. I just wanted to share a couple of challenge cards I made earlier this week. This one is for the sketch at the sweetest thing . Karen makes the simplest sketches that are so fun to use for a quick card. Paper : Bazzill cardstock; HOTP patterned paper Stamp : Inkadinkado Accents : ribbon, Offray; flower, Petaloo; rub on stitches, DCWV; brad The challenge at High Hopes this week is to make a spring/ Easter card. I needed a push to start some Easter cards. I used the sketch at Friday Sketchers for my design. Here's my card: Paper : cardstock; patterned paper, HOTP Stamp: Inkadinkado; Studio G Accents : Flowers, Making Memories, other Tools : Cuttlebug argyle embossing folder; paper piercer; black marker; Nestabilities large petite ovals Thanks for looking!

Sketch and Stash Challenge

I finally got around to playing in the sketch and stash challenge . It's almost time for a new one, so I'm sliding in at the last minute. Before I show you my card, let me show you some things hubby has for sale on ebay- necklaces that he made. (Speaking of him, he really knows the way to my heart. I got stamps and a set of Nestabilities dies for Valentine's Day. ) Click on the pictures to go to the auctions. Now, for my card. The idea for the challenge is to dig into your "stash". I used BasicGrey sugared collection papers which were purchased a couple of months ago and an Inkadinkado stamp that I've had for a year or so and never inked! Also from my stash are some paper flowers, brads, and epoxy stickers from Michaels. I also used a Nestabilities scalloped oval die that I just got this week. The sentiment is from K&Co. words to go.

Another sketch card..

One more post for the day and then I will be preparing Valentine's dinner. Here's my card for the High Hopes challenge this week. I love sketch challenges. Paper : Bazzill cardstock, Basic Grey urban prairie Stamps : Inkadinkado Garden delights, See D's Accents : Doodlebug rub on stitches; brad; ribbon, Michael's Tools: Martha Stewart punch , Prismacolor pencils

Embellishment inspired

Last week's OCC challenge was to use an embellishment as inspiration. (I'm behind, I just got to this today). I took inspiration from the blue birdie ribbon. I embossed a panel with birds and swirls, used a bird stamp, and carried out a blue theme. I also used the sketch from Mojo Monday for this week as my layout. Paper : cardstock, patterned paper (unknown) Stamp : Inkadinkado , Heidi Grace (sentiment) Accents : ribbon, Michael's; button, Bazzill Tools : Cuttlebug birds and swirls embossing folder, Big Shot

Quiet evening at home

We're spending a quiet evening at home. I finished another challenge card. This on is for Sketch Saturday #37. I don't really think this card is "me" but then again I made myself use colors (papers) I would not ordinarily use. Paper : Bazzill cardstock, patterned paper unknown Stamp : Inkadinkado Tools : Marvy markers, Nestabilities, chalk Accents : Brads, rhinestones

Something round

Both cards I'm sharing tonight have something round- circles. That did not even occur to me until I got ready to write this post. They are based on two different sketch challenges. First is my card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge and Flourishes Newsletter Timeless Tuesday. I didn't even start out to complete the Flourishes challenge but I put buttons on here and remembered that challenge is for buttons. Paper : K&Co., cardstock Stamp : Inkadinkado Accents : Bazzill buttons; brads Tools : 1" circle punch; flower punch, Cuttlebug embossing folder; Martha Stewart butterfly punch Next is my card for the Friday Sketchers challenge and Flourishes Newsletter color challenge. A multi-challenge card

This card is one of those little surprises. You know, when you start out with a sketch or idea but you have no idea what the end result will be, because you just don't have the card pictured in your head. And then when you're finished, you're very surprised and pleased. I'm pleased with this. I started with the Dutch Dare Card Challenge to use no pink or red on a love themed card, so I chose black and blue. Well, really, black and white, and the blue somehow just worked its way in there. I used the sketch from CPS . It also fits the challenge for Stamp Something to make a valentine something and Caardvarks heart challenge, so I may just link it up there as well. I heat embossed those silver hearts. I used a heart background stamp that I've had for .. ahem, a few years and had not used yet. Oh.. one more neat detail. The scallops on the heart were made by punching hole punch size circles out of cardstock and gluing them to the edge of the heart. Paper : Cardstock St

Mojo Monday (on Friday!)

I am absolutely in love with this week's sketch (#72) at Mojo Monday . I made my card last night, and I have a few more ideas for cards. I can think of two more sets of my stamps that this would work with, so I'll be going back to this sketch again. I love layers too and this sketch has lots of them. Here is my card: Papers : HOTP ; cardstock Stamps: birdhouse, Inkadinkado; sentiment, Making Memories Accents: rhinestones, Michael's; ribbon, Offray; flower, Making Memories Tools : Fiskars treading water punch; Nestabilities circles and scalloped circles; decorative scissors

Another card share...

Ever have a hard time coming up with clever titles for your posts? I'm so tired right now, I can't think. Also, ever make a card that you just absolutely do not like. Well, here's one. It's just not working for me, but I don't know how to fix it so I'm posting it anyway. Maybe you can give me some suggestions. I made it for Sketch Saturday sketch #36 . It's a great sketch and the design team cards are fabulous. I just couldn't make it work. I also used lace on this card for the High Hopes challenge this week.

Another share...

REMINDER: I HAVE BLOG CANDY A FEW POSTS DOWN. I didn't have time to post this one this morning. This is my take on CPS sketch 101 . It went out in the mail today to a male Sunday School member who had surgery. Yep, that's more faux stitching. Paper : Basic Grey Vagabond Stamp : Studio G Accents : Brads, Making Memories, Fibers, EK Success; Tools : Cuttlebug Vintage die; Cuttlebug argyle folder; paper piercer

Quick share!

What great timing since this 23 degree temp (unusual for South Georgia!!) has me thinking of warmer, brighter things. Maybe this will brighten your day too. These little penguins make my want to dance! LOL

Happy Weekend Blog Candy ***CLOSED***

**** NOW CLOSED**** I'm having my first ever blog candy giveaway. I had mentioned earlier here that I might do this when I hit 5,000 on the counter. That happened last week. I also woke up Friday to find that my card which I posted for sketches by Tamara was featured. That's a first for me too! Then I came home from work to check the Stamp Something challenge and found that I was selected by random.org as the winner of last week's prize! Woo hoo! On Saturday I checked my email and discovered that our local Circuit City had lowered their prices on digital cameras by 20% for the store closing. (Side note: I'm sad that so many people are losing jobs, so much that I almost feel guilty for this purchase.) I made the purchase anyway - a new Canon Rebel XSi. I've been wanting to get a digital SLR and quit with film. This camera will take the lenses I already own. You may see an improvement in my blog photos. So, I've had a happy weekend. And I appreciate all the visits

My heart has wings

I've had these Flights of Fancy stamps by HOTP for quite a while now and have been meaing to use them, but the right reason just had not come up yet. I decided they would be perfect for a Valentine's card for hubby, so I used them. I pulled the color combo from the Charisma Cardz challenge to use black, white and one other color. The design of the card is for the MFT sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers . It also fits the OCC challenge to use two hearts or more. I wasn't really planning on it being a card for that challenge, but hey, it fits! Come back a little later. I'm posting some blog candy and will tell you why I'm celebrating. Paper: Doodlebug Stamps : Inkadinkado, sentiment and heart; wings, HOTP Accents : Ribbon, (Dots N Dashes); rub on stitches; DCWV Tools/techniques : Cuttlebug heart blocks folder, heat embossing
