Coastal Patriotic Tablescape

Happy Fourth of July! And THANK YOU to those who served and presently serve to perserve the freedom we hold so dear! Today I'm sharing a tablescape I created for the Fourth of July. I've set my coastal theme as a base and added red, white, and blue to it. After the Fourth, I can make some quick changes and have my beachy coastal tablescape for the rest of the summer.   The centerpiece is a hurricane filled with blue decor sand, shells, and a blue candle. This usually stays on a bookshelf in the living room as everyday decor, but I thought it would be fitting for the dining room table for a while. The place setting includes a new blue plate I picked up at Tuesday Morning. I placed a paper patriotic pinwheel in each napkin ring. The pinwheels came six in a pack from Michaels . I'm using the no sew runner and pieces of netting again. On each side of the centerpiece is a mason jar filled with blue sand, shells, and a candle. I stuck a flag in each o...

Coastal Patriotic mantel

Yesterday I showed you my beach themed summer mantel decor. Today I'm back to show you how I've updated that same decor to a patriotic look and for less than $10. I picked up some patriotic paper fans from the Dollar Tree. They came two to a pack, one large and one small. I'll go ahead and tell you to expect to need a few more supplies to make them work. One of mine was missing string and one was missing the adhesive strip to hold it together. I also took extra adhesive to get them to stay together in the middle and not fold in half. I hung them from my mantel on clear Command hooks. You could also make a garland with them. I placed some red votives I already had on hand on each side. I purchased some small flags from Michael's and added them to the succulent arrangement. I took the fan with no string and adhered a small dowel to the back and stuck it in my shell filled hurricane.  I also picked up the picture frame from Tuesday Morning for $3.99. I placed...

Fourth of July top hat frame wreath

This was my kind of project. Quick. Easy. While browsing at the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago, I saw this top hat decoration. I thought it would be cute hanging on my door, but knew it could be cuter framed.       I happened upon a sale at Michael's where I got a laser cut frame for 50% off and their Craft Smart paint was on sale too. I painted the frame with "holiday red".  It took three coats because this wood really soaks up the paint. After I painted it, I applied a clear top coat by Plaid. Then I added some pears and rhinestone embellishments to the frame. I didn't go overboard with red, white, and blue so I can use the same frame at Valentine's or Christmas.  Here are a few close ups of the embellishments. I hung the top hat from the back of the frame. I attached it with a staple. Be careful with staples, one of mine showed from the front but  I covered it with a rhinestone jewel. I added a flag to my p...

Easy patriotic jar centerpiece

You may have noticed the centerpiece in my patriotic star applique placemat post. It's an easy one to do. All you need is some mason jars or jars of any kind. These are probably empty pickle or spaghetti jars. In addition to the jars you need: sand ( I used the decorative kind from Michael's) acrylic jewel accent stones ( Michael's) (These have been used in Christmas and Valentine's decor so they were worth the investment.) candles- I'm using led tealights mini flags mini star wired garland dowels Fill jars partly with sand and top with jewel stones. Wrap star garland around your dowel. Stick dowel and flag in jar. The third jar was made with tissue paper and Mod Podge. Apply strips of paper to the inside of jar. Add a flag and a candle. This looks cool lit up. I told you it was easy! What easy and quick centerpiece ideas do you have? I'd love to hear about them in the comments. Sharing here: Think Pink S...

Fourth of July star applique placemats

This is a fairly easy project to dress up plain placemats for the Fourth of July (or Memorial Day) holiday. You'll need a placemat- fabric or the woven plastic kind from the Dollar Tree. I chose the plastic ones from the Dollar Tree because I would be using them outside. Find a star template and some red, white and blue fabric scraps. I had a plastic scrapbooking template but you could draw your own or download one from the net. Using your template, trace stars on fabric. Cut out. Stitch your stars to your mats with embroidery thread. Done. Easy. Here's a couple of close ups of my mats.
