Organizing under the Kitchen Sink

This post contains affiliate links. Clicking doesn't cost you a thing, but if you purchase from my links, I earn a few extra cents.  In the spirit of organizing in small chunks, one area at a time, I'm sharing how I organized under my kitchen sink this past fall. My results aren't as pretty as those who use pull out drawers or boxes and labels and such, but it's better than the before and it works for me. Just how bad was the before? See for yourself. Everything was just thrown under there and I could never find what I was looking for. So I set out to remedy this. I took out everything. Boy was the kitchen floor a mess that day. The key steps to organizing anything are to purge, sort, and then contain. Many of the items were expired and just needed to be trashed. Some things were moved to a new location. The remaining items were grouped somewhat and then placed in baskets and bins. I also used an extending shelf to add a little more room. I  repurpo...

DIY hoop ornaments from an old sweater

One of my most popular post is 10 ways to repurpose an old sweater . Here is one more way to use on old sweater, particularly an old tacky holiday sweater- make hoop ornaments.   I was perusing a holiday magazine and saw this idea. I remembered that I had purchased this sweater from Goodwill for Valentine's projects that never were completed. It has a snowflake pattern and was perfect for these ornaments. This is also a super easy and quick project for this busy time of year. Here's what you need:

Mug rack to jewelry holder

Disclaimer: This post contains an affiliate link to Amazon. Clicking or purchasing won't cost you any additional money but helps support my blog.      I have my jewelry stored in a plastic hanging divided organizer made for jewelry in he closet but some of it doesn't fit well in the pockets, particularly bracelets, so I wanted to come up with a new storage solution. I'm not a fan of some of DIY jewelry holders because I think it's just plain tacky to have a jewelry holder out as decor and I don't really have a place for some of the ideas I've seen. I finally decided I could give in a little and that having a few bracelets out on the dresser would be okay. Having made this decision, I was thrilled when I found this beauty, uh ugly duckling, at our Salvation Army thrift store for $1.   It took me a bit to decide on a color. I'd have loved a bright yellow or turqouise, but that would really clash with our bedroom decor. I was strolling thr...
