Cupcake liner trees

These cute little cupcake liner trees are another idea I saw while perusing magazines. (We spend a good many evenings at Books a Million drinking coffee and hanging out. Of course, you can find me in the back looking at the eye candy magazines.) These are so easy to do.   Find some cute cupcake liners. I picked up mine at Michael's 75/$1.00 and they had a bonus mini liner set in them. If I get around to making treats, I'll use those mini liners. Cut the center circle of the liner out.   You will be left with a ruffle that you can then glue or pin to a cone. I had some styrofoam cones in my stash. I decided to pin mine on. (Less committment- I can take them off if I need the cone for something else.) When you reach the top you will have an adorable ruffled tree. I made two of them and they have a home on my Christmas mantel now. Thanks for stopping by. I'll be sharing here: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop...

DIY hoop ornaments from an old sweater

One of my most popular post is 10 ways to repurpose an old sweater . Here is one more way to use on old sweater, particularly an old tacky holiday sweater- make hoop ornaments.   I was perusing a holiday magazine and saw this idea. I remembered that I had purchased this sweater from Goodwill for Valentine's projects that never were completed. It has a snowflake pattern and was perfect for these ornaments. This is also a super easy and quick project for this busy time of year. Here's what you need:

Top 10 of 2012

Where did the year go? I say this every year. Nonetheless, I think it's been a pretty productive year. So what did I craft? Here are my top 10 posts, according to Blogger's views stats, in the order of most viewed.   Dollar tree skeleton wreath   Men's dress skirt to skirt

More glitter ornaments

I had so much fun making glitter ornaments that I spent some time this past weekend making more.  I made three in red for my Georgia tree (it's not up this year, but maybe next year) and I made three more for stocking stuffers. I made another polka dot ornament   Then I made a white one with red dots. I combined both the floor cleaner and the mod podge techniques for this. I made a solid red one and turned it into a Santa belly band ornament with a strip of felt and a buckle cut from silver glitter cardstock with my Nestabilities square dies. My mother-in-law collects angels so I made a white glitter ornament into an angel of sorts by gluing some feathers to the back. Finally I made a silver one and decorated it with a blue ribbon and rosette made from the ribbon.     These are so much fun. I had a hard time picking a favorite. Which is your favorite?   Sharing here:   Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dream...

DIY ornament topiary

You may have noticed my ornament topiary in my last post about my window wreaths.    That was another project that was on my list last year. I was inspired by these at BHG because they were in my color scheme. I set out to make one this year. I didn't follow the directions at BHG. Instead, I did a little more searching and then just did it my way. Most people suggest painting your stryofoam ball in a complimentary color first. I skipped this step because I was in a hurry, but I do recommend you do that. I used a 4 in styrofoam ball, 3 different size ornaments and a glitter pick. I also used a dowel rod which I covered in washi tape and a planter from the dollar tree. My planter was originally bronze, but with a few coats of spray paint it became silver. You also need some foam for the planter and something to cover it with. I used moss and blue glass pebbles. The pebbles give the bottom some weight. I think this makes a much better centerpiece f...

Trio of wreaths

I love the look of wreaths on windows, indoors and outdoors. I decided last year that I wanted to make wreaths for the three windows around my morning room, but didn't get around to it. I made it a priority this year and got them done.

Looking back- Novembers past

Yikes! Tomorrow is Dec. 1! 24 days til Christmas, less if you need to have gift ready ahead of time. Before I freak out too much, let's take this last day of November to look back at projects from Novembers past. Some of you have never seen these, and I tend to forget about them myself so this has become a fun little feature for me. These were popular (I need to make more for some stockings). Felt flowers     I also made a felt yarn wreath.       Embellished pumpkins     Mini cone trees (I'm using these again this year.)     Painted rattan balls     Treat bag toppers   It looks like November is full of fall projects and decor with jump start on Christmas. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Glitter ornaments

Last week I tried out this fun way of making glitter ornaments. I love glitter and its shine at the holidays but not the mess. Coating the inside of a clear glass ornament with glitter is a great way to get the shine without the mess. I made some ornaments in my color theme- aqua and green.  You can buy a specially made product for this project or you can use floor cleaner. Yep, floor cleaner. I started seeing it on several sites and had to give it a try myself. Below are my supplies: Pledge floor care clear glass ornaments Martha Stewart fine glitter a cup for the excess cleaner a tray to catch my glitter (Mine is made so I can funnel the extra back into the bottle.) Just swirl the cleaner around in the ball and then pour out the excess. Shake in the glitter and coat the inside of the ball. Done! Easy! and so pretty. I also saw an idea from Michael's for some polka dot ornaments . You'll need Mod Podge and some spouncers for this one. Make dots on your...
