12 Chalkboard projects

It's back to school time so what's more fitting than a round up of chalkboard projects. Now that I've finally given in and made my own (seen here), I'm hooked and definitely plan on doing more things with chalkboard paint and labels. I've got some leftover materials from a dresser redo that will be perfect for this:   Chalkboard place mats   Love these bright colorful chalkboards, and of course, everything is more sophisticated on a pedestal Pedestal chalkboards   A table for the kiddies to play and draw, or use it for outdoor decor     Chalkboard table   I'm currently using my small chalkboard outside, but I'd love a larger one for the narrow wall on the end of our porch     Outdoor welcome sign   How cute are these chalkboard pendants     Chalkboard necklaces       Bezel frame Chalkboard necklaces   Give a gift and message in one with thes...

Easy Fancy Framed chalkboard

I resisted the chalkboard craze for a long time, partly because I didn't think I had a use for any of the projects and partly because I just hadn't gotten around to it. I have a platter that I bought at a yard sale with a chalk board project in mind but I haven't gotten to it. When I saw Suburb's Mama's chalkboard sign on her front porch, I knew it was time to get on board. I just had to copy this for my own front porch update. I wanted a white frame and I didn't want to paint it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it either. Luck would have it, I found a clearance frame at Michael's that was white. It was on clearance because it didn't have a glass but I decided I could work with it. There are tons of ways to make a chalkboard from a picture frame. I was initially going to paint the glass in the frame, but since this one didn't have a glass, I had to shift to plan B. Luckily the backing board was a sturdy smooth MDF board, s...

Card for a cause

I love to create when I can do so for a good purpose. Cammie at My Blog is having a card drive to thank the caretakers of Alzheimer's patients. You can read all about it here.  There is an awesome prize package to go with it. Here is my card: Papers: Cosmo Cricket Stamps: Verve Ink: Memento Accents: Stickles, rhinestones, flowers Tools: Nestabilities I always look to a great sketch for inspiration and for a jumping off point. I've used this week's sketch at CardPatterns. Crazy4Challenges is calling for some bling this week so I'll be linking up there too. Thanks for looking. Don't forget to enter my handmade card giveaway . I could certainly use the feedback.

Technique Thursday - Chalkboard

The coloring on this card was done with the chalkboard technique. The tutorial for this can be found here . Some things to note: You definitely want a solid image. Your chalk is sticking to the ink. An image that is an outline will be impossible to color on dark cardstock. Also, I did wait for my ink to dry. It seemed to be smearing when I started applying the chalk while the ink was wet. The stamp used here is by Inkadinkado. Here's a close up of the image.
