Metal stamped initial necklaces

Metal stamping has been on my list of things to try out for a long time. I have owned a set of metal stamps purchased from Harbor Freight for over a year now but just finally got around to using them a couple of months ago. I made necklaces for Christmas gifts for my mother and in-laws. These were a lot of fun and come together fairly quickly so they would aslo be great gifts for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or anytime you need to whip a a gift for a special girl friend. My stamp set is 1/8 inch and I used 9mm sterling silver discs. I also used sterling silver chain for these since they were gifts. I purchased my supplies in bulk from  Silver City Beads on etsy so I have around $10 invested in each necklace. They can be made for less if you forgo the sterling. Other supplies included beads, charms, 4mm and 6mm jump rings. This is a great stash busting project if you are already into jewelry making or beading. Adding a bead to your nec...

Bling frame, candle holder and card- Mother's Day Gift Set

I wrote this post as part of campaign with Blueprint Social. All opinions are my own. It seems like we always need a quick gift for an unexpected occasion. Mother’s Day is coming up, followed by graduation and the end of the school year. When I received my box of Gemz  and Bling on a Roll , I instantly started thinking about sparkly gifts for divas for those occasions. I came up with this card, frame and candle holder gift set. Perfect for mom or the girly diva graduate.   To make the card, I started with a sketch from I "Heart" 2 Stamp .    I love using a sketch as a starting point for a card or paper craft project.   I used a premade card base that is 6.5 inches by 5 inches.   To make the card: Cut a green card stock panel to fit the front of the card. Cut from patterned paper a 2 1/2 in. x 6 1/4 in. strip and two 4 in. x 2 1/2 in. strips. I used a piece of glitter patterned paper for my longer strip since I wanted...

Happy Mother's Day

I'm a little late sending out Mother's Day wishes. I've been busy finishing up last minute Mother's day gifts and shopping and then yesterday we traveled to visit our mothers. To all of my readers who are mothers, daughters, sisters, and aunts....Happy Mother's Day. It's never too late to appreciate all the things that women do to "mother'' and care for others every day. My mother and I on her 70th birthday in Dec. 2010 (Note to self: It's a shame that Dec. 2010 is the last time we had photo taken together.)

Make earrings for Mom

It's time to start thinking about what you will make or purchase for mom, sis, aunt, and all those special women for Mother's Day. It will be here before you know it. How about some earrings? Even the mosts inexperienced crafter can make them. Here's a dainty pink pair I made: To make these you will need: 4 beads (these came from Michaels) 2 silver spacer beads 2 6mm ribbed round spacer beads head pins earring backs (I'm using kidney ear wires this time. You can also use hook ear wires) On a head pin, place a round silver bead, bead one, 6 mm spacer and bead two. Begin a wrapped loop . Slip it over your lever back and complete the wrapped loop. Done. One of these would make a great mother's day gift for yourself or someone else. If you don't want to make your own, you can also purchase a pair in my shop . I'll be sharing my tutorial here: Think Pink Sundays ** Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop * Creative Bloggers Party and H...

On Your Special Day

Mother's Day is a day set aside to show mother's they are special and to honor them. If you happen to be curious about it's history, there some information HERE along with poems and craft ideas. Here's the card I made for my mother-in-law this year. This is just one big stamped image colored with Copics. The image is a GinaK Designs stamp by Melanie Muenchinger . I used the following Copic colors: R22, R24, R29, G29, YG67, YG13, Y17, G05, G14, RV19, RV34, R83, BG11. Aren't you impressed that I actually wrote them down for you. I love Copics for blending and shading. I colored the trim around the sentiment with a metallic silver Prismacolor pencil. I even added a little something to the inside of this card. These are colored with Marvy Markers. They were already on hand in my basket of stamped and colored images. I cut them out and layered them inside. This is the perfect image to use for my mother-in-law. She loves gardening and grows the most beau...
