WIWW- White dress, two ways

I recently purchased a coral blazer and had tossed it across my cedar chest with other items that needed to be put away. It was lying across a mint shirt and white jacket and I loved the color combination. It inspired an outfit with the blazer, a white dress and mint necklace. However, there was one problem- I didn't own a white dress or mint necklace. A couple of weeks later, I was in Belk's and scored a cute white dress on clearance for $15.39! Of course it went home with me and Sunday I wore it with the blazer to church. I still don't have the mint accessories so I went with turquoise.   Dress- Belk; Blazer- Forever 21; shoes- TJMaxx   For evening services, I made the dress a little more casual and wore it with sandals and a vest belted over it. You can see the inspiration for this version here .   Dress- Belk; vest- Old Navy; belt/shoes- Target Linking up to WIWW .

WIWW- Floral maxi dress

I have had this maxi dress for over 15 years! Way before maxi dresses were popular. I think back then it was just a "long" dress. But it is one of my favorite pieces for the summer because it's so comfortable. I picked up these cork wedges from Ross two years ago. I have a love/hate relationship with wedges. I love the look, but unless I get just the right angle, my feet slide forward in them instead of staying in place. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Does it bother you too?    Worn June 2, 2013   Linking up with WIWW Interested in or following the Paleo lifestyle? We changed our diet about  four months ago and love the results! Fashion tip- Fabulous Friday find

It's been a while since I've shared a Fabulous Friday find . Not because they aren't out there, just because I've been too busy to do the extra post. Today I'm sharing this fabulous find from Brassy Apple. It's a much needed one this time of year because we are all back into jeans and sweaters or long shirts. Do your pants ever curl away from your button, creating an annoying "pooch" when you pull your shirt down over them? Mine do. And I hate it. I want a smooth silhouette, not a bumpy one. Megan has the perfect solution- masking tape. Yep- tape that sucker down! Go visit Megan at Brassy Apple for more details!

On trend mint earrings

Mint is a very trendy color this season. While I don't have any mint skinny jeans , I do have a few other pieces in mint and decided I should make myself an accessory to go with them- mint earrings. I've had these beads in my stash for awhile and can't even tell you where I got them. To make your own mint earrings, you will need six beads, two each of three assorted shapes and shades, earring wires, head pins, and eye pins. Thread two of your beads on a head pin and make a wrapped loop. Thread your other bead on an eye pin and make a simple loop. Attach these two units and attach your ear wires. Simple! WIWW

Hi. I don't regulary do WIWW posts here anymore, but thought I'd play along today. Here are a couple of outfits from last week, one work and one play. Left: Cardigan- Old Navy; blouse- Sear's; skirt- consignment; shoes- Target Right: Blouse- Chico's-thrifted; sweater- Talbot's- thrifted; Levi's jeans, shoes- Payless I decided to try out some trends I've been seeing- the shirt tail out and cuffed jeans. The cuffed jeans remind me of being a kid, so I have not been quick to embrace it. I also realized most of my jeans are boot cut or flare, so I can't cuff them. What do you think of these trends? Linking up at The Pleated Poppy.

WIWW- Scarf as a necklace

Happy Wednesday! First let me announce that I have started a fashion/style blog, Savvy Southern Style . You can see more outfits there. I like to chatter about the details of an outfit so much that a week long review of everything in one post gets to be a bit too much. And I'd like to keep this blog mostly about crafting, so I started another one to journal my outfits. Please check it out. Blazer, pants, silk tee- Worthington separates, JCPenney; shoes ( similar)

WIWW - Thrifted

Happy Hump Day! We're  half way through the week and it's time to link up with Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday. She's now issuing more than just a challenge to get dressed every day. This week was to wear something thrifted. I have a few things I've thrifted and I must say it's quite fun to find great deals. I also continued the last challenge of wearing something rarely worn as Yellow Blackbird had issued the same challenge for Shop Your Closet . Saturday I had a hair appointment and later we went to dinner. What I wore: sweater, tank, shorts- Target; shoes- JCPenny;  purse- Tommy Hilfiger- THRIFTED $4.99! I bought these clothes two or three years ago and wore them a lot the first year, but haven't worn them lately. I had not worn the shoes at all this year. I would not own a Tommy Hilfiger purse if it had not been found at the Salvation Army. Sunday- church Dress- Gap via Goodwill. Shoes- target I found this dress at the Good...

WIWW- Rarely worn

Last week Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy challenged everyone to wear something we never wear or something old in a new way. That's a good challenge that I try to do from time to time, and I still had some things in my closet that needed to be worn. Jacket and pants: Worthington/ JCPenny; shirt - Ross; shoes- TJMaxx; necklace-vintage/ ebay; bracelet- made by me

Must Do Monday - Make your own headband- 7 tutorials

I'm not a huge fan of headbands. I like them and get compliments on the rare occasions that I wear them, but I'm just not comfortable wearing them. When I do wear them, I like simple ones. I admire the girls who can wear the elaborate ones but I think I'm too old for those. Here are some I've come across that fit my style and are on my list of things to make.
