Christmas home tour 2014- Part one

Welcome to my little Christmas home tour. I know I'm way off schedule and most have had home tours up for a bit now, but I still wanted to share.   We will start outside. I hope it stops raining soon so I can get a few shots of the lights at night, but for now this will do. We used lots more colored lights and color this year versus years past with white lights. Hubby fell in love with this wreath at Michael's and the colors really set of the theme and color scheme.   I had to have this swag. It was on sale for 50% off at Michael's and if I had wanted to make one, I could not have bought the materials for the price I paid. I had another coupon to stack on top of the 50% off. I didn't make any new decorations this year, just bought a few new pieces and used things from years past.     Let's sit for a while on the porch. I put out some pillow and a fleece blanket (thrift store find) to make it cozy. To add a little more color, I put som...

Christmas cloche

Just a quick post to share some of my Christmas decor. I've had decorations out for over two weeks but I've been too busy with other preparations to share them. I found this cloche for 50 cents at the thrift store months ago. It did not have a bottom but I knew I'd be able to use it somehow. It came in perfect for this year's simplified decor.   I purchased a wood slice from Michael's. I placed a berry and cone pick, a bottle brush tree and an ornament on the slice and covered it with the cloche. So simple and quick and it is one of my favorite things to look at this year. I then surrounded it with a forest of bottle brush trees. I purchased several of these last year on clearance with mantel decorations in mind, but forgot about them when I started on the mantel. Thankfully I came across them in time to incorporate them in the vignette. When we rearrange for the tree, my Grandmother's vintage sewing machine gets put in a more visible spot,...

No sew Christmas pillows

I changed out the pillows on my porch when I decorated for Christmas. If you've followed me this year (and if you haven't, won't you now?) you know that my favorite way to make pillows is placemats . So once again I have pillows from placemats.

Christmas on the front porch

Good morning and welcome to my Christmas porch. It's filled with traditional decor of greenery (artificial), lights, and poinsettias (also artificial).     I swapped out the fall pillows for new Christmas pillows and moved the lanterns to the side table. I filled them with glittery red led candles and poinsettia blooms. I perched some birds on top and added some berries. I love the pop of color it brings for the day time.
