Paper straw frame

I'm just popping in tonight with a quick little DIY project- a paper straw picture frame. I started with a blank wood frame from Michaels. I painted it with a coat of white paint. Once it was dry, I measured the width of the edges and cut the straws to fit. I found these straws in the clearance bin at Michael's. They were Christmas straws but also perfect for Valentine's Day. I glued each straw piece with hot glue. Simple. Haunted Halloween Birdhouses

This post contains affiliate links to Amazon. Clicking or purchasing through these links won't cost you a thing but helps support my crafty habit.   I must confess- I started these last year and didn't get them finished in time for Halloween. But this year they are proudly displayed on my sofa table! These were a lot of fun to make.   To make your own, you will need miniature birdhouses, dowels, and small wooden plaques for bases. Mine came from Michaels.  You will also need wood glue, paint, skeletons, scrapbook paper, Mod Podge and plastic bugs if you like.       My sweet hubby drilled holes in the houses and the bases and set the dowel rods for me. Then I painted them with orange and black acrylic paint. Then the really fun part began. I decorated them with Mod Podge and scrapbook paper and various cut outs made using my Slice and the Spook Alley cartridge . I added some minature skeletons (taken from Dollar Tree garland) and mini ...

Decorative hope, joy and peace plates with Mod Podge and Silhouette

I decided to try my hand at making some decorative plates with clear plates. My mom had seen this idea of using paper or fabric and mod podge to decorate plates in a magazine and informed me that I could make her some so she could change out the Nativity plates she had on display. So I did. I made her a set of plates for Mother's Day.

Gift wrap- 5 unique ways

Only a week left 'til Christmas. It's time to get those gifts wrapped up. The packaging make the simplest of gifts seem extravagant.  Here are  five unique ways to wrap a gift. I think this one is my all time favorite. Of course, it involves glitter.  I'm definitely doing this in the future. Glitter tags and boxes     Button stamped     Pom pom gift wrap       Clothespin embellishments     Ribbon and candy

Book page crafts

Good morning and welcome to another "Must Do Monday"- a list of fun ideas to try one day. This week it's all about book pages. Book lovers- don't panic! We're not talking about ripping up a valuable literary work, just those "unheard of" from the thrift store. I've played with book pages on a small scale before with flowers and eggs but there is so much more you can do with book pages. Let's check out some more ideas.

DIY paper box (without a die cut machine)

I saw this cute idea at the Silhouette blog, but I have the SD and cannot cut 12 inch files, so I made a box for a flower gift the old fashioned way. I'll show you how. These make great teacher's, thinking of you friend, or mother's day gifts. I know Mother's Day is passed and for most of you, you are done with teacher gifts, but they really work for any occasion. Here is one I made for a friend just to cheer her up. (She later told me she put an air plant in her box so she could take it to work and keep the box - awesome idea since the box won't hold up to watering a regular plant.)

Washi tape gift bag and card

I wasted no time in trying out my washi tape . I gussied up a plain gift bag with it and created a matching card for Mother's Day.  Here is a close up of the card:  I did a generic sentiment on the bag so my mother can reuse/regift it if she chooses: The sentiments were stamped and adhered to a label cut with my Nestabilities Labels four in my Sizzix big shot. I really need to get back to more paper crafting. This was a fun project.
