Embellishing a stocking

What mantel is complete without stockings? Need an easy idea to get some fabulous stockings fast? Embellish a ready made stocking!

For my mantel I started with some plain white plush stockings from the Dollar Tree. I didn't have any to match my new color scheme for this year, and I didn't want to spend a lot. They had a cute tassel but that was it. So, I dressed them up a bit.

I added a white felt flower with a beaded center and leaves.

To do this you need to find a flower template that you like. I used this template from DIY dish.  Cut flowers from felt. I cut two large ones the same size and two more decreasing in size for each flower.

Stack them on top of each other and fold in half. Sew a few stitches through the fold.

Then sew some beads to the center. I cut leaves from green felt with a Cuttlebug die in my Sizzix Big Shot.  Sew on your flowers and leaves and you've got a fancy stocking for minimal cost.
