Fancy flops - Tried it out Thursday

I took some inspiration from A Couple of Craft Addicts  and made my own ruffled flip flops.

Southwestern Veggie Wraps

Need a quick healthy meal? I love these veggie wraps, and so does my hubby. That's a plus! And don't tell him they're called veggie wraps - that might turn him off. He's not a big veggie eater. I usually tell him we are having black bean wraps.

Must do Monday- Altered Flip Flops

Summer officially arrived last week, so that means flip flop season! I've got a few pairs stashed from Old Navy sales for altering. There are some great ideas out there than I'm eager to try out. Where to start?

Thrift store finds

I went to the Salvation Army thrift shop here yesterday and thought I'd share my finds. You know how it is, sometimes you find great things you are just tickled over and sometimes nothing.

Friday feature- One Artsy Mama with giveaway

This week I'm pleased to introduce to you Amy, the mom, blogger, and crafter behind One Arsty Mama- the shop and blog .   Here's what Amy shared with me about herself and shop. Bird's Nest Pendant with 3 Blue Eggs

Fire cracker applique dish towel - Tried it out Thursday

I featured ruffled, ribbon, and appliqued dish towels on Monday for my Must Do Monday . Today I'm showing you my very first attempt at my own embellished dish towel.

Must Do Monday - Embellished dish towels

This is a cute project that can be done with your fabric scraps. I'm itching to try this and make towels for every holiday to brighten up my kitchen.

Handmade Father's Day card

I needed to get a card made for my Daddy and I was about to run out of time. I pulled a Phindy's Place image from my stash that I had already colored this morning and turned to some challenges for some inspiration. I used the sketch over at CPS and some jute twine for the Crazy4Challenges call for twine, floss, or string. I thought this was a nice masculine touch. I also played Simon Says bingo . I used the bottom row - shape (Nesties label), ribbon and sentiment. I colored my image with the following Copics: C4, N9, G29,E39, E35, E07, B24, B18, C10,C6,G85,YG67, Y17, E17.  Papers are from K&Co. I used sentiment stamps from Stampendous and Stamping Bella. Do you stampers ever combine images or sentiments from different companies on a project or stick to the same line for each company? Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Feature- Yellow Blackbird

Happy Friday! I'm excited to welcome you to the first Friday Feature. I'll be featuring a different etsy shop each Friday.

Anthro necklace knock off- Tried it out Thursday

Good morning! It's almost Friday. This week I tried out Beverly's tutorial at Flamingo Toes for the Anthro Pernilla knock off. By the way, this necklace is no longer available at Anthro, so I consider the tutorial for it highly valuable.

Father's Day gift bag idea

Clip art is a great way to dress up a gift bag.

Must Do Monday- chalkboard paint

One of the things in my ever growing list of "crafts to do" is a chalkboard paint project. I've been intrigued by this paint since it was first released and used to wonder "does it really work?" Well, apparently it does. Just look at all the cool projects other crafters have done with this stuff. Chalkboard labels by the Shabby Chic Cottage

Tried it out Thursday- T Dress

I tried out this tutorial for making a dress from a tank top. Instead of a tank, I used a tshirt with cap sleeves from Old Navy (clearance, less than $4 if  I remember correctly-I started this last year. Please tell me I'm not the only one with partially finished projects this old). I used material from my grandmother's old stash- FREE! Here is my dress:

Tool time- my top ten favorite

I think we all agree that creating is fun and there are some “go to” tools that make it easier and more fun. Some of those tools can even be used for more than one type of craft. Here are my top ten favorite crafting tools and few of the things I use them for.

Necktie necklace

I've seen a couple of versions of the necktie necklace around, but the inspiration for this one came from Sewstylish Spring 2011 issue. I made mine loosely based on the instructions in the article, but changed a couple of things. I made a different flower and did not add a string of pearls to the ruffle like the one in the article.

Must Do Monday- Tshirt or tank dress

Hello, and Happy Monday! I'm starting a new feature where I share projects, techniques, and recipes that I've saved from other bloggers to try out in the future. Sort of a crafting "bucket list" if you will. Come back on Thursdays to see "Tried it out Thursday" where I'll post something I've actually tried out from these features and tutorials or other projects I found elsewhere to try. Since it's feeling like summer here already, I'm starting with an easy summer dress I'd like to make. Reality Check Girl Magazine I'm lovin this version with pockets, but I'm probably too lazy to make that my first try. By academic chic Here's another with a different waistband: Ruffles and Roses What's on your "must do" list? Or do you have a project that you think I'd like to try? Shoot me an email or leave me comment with a link! I've got a button for those I've featured:

Followers, features, etc.

Hey there blog friends! And welcome to my new followers! I see that number creeping up a little each day. I’m flattered. I’m thinking of having a celebration giveaway when I reach 250 followers, but I’m not sure what I want to giveaway. What would you like to have? I’m sure I could come up with some craft goodies- stickers, tools, glue, fabric, etc. or would you like to have a completed item? A memory wire bracelet or bib necklace or flower pin? You tell me – goodies or an item custom made for you. (You can check out my work here or in my etsy shop .) Leave me a comment and the choice with the most votes will be the giveaway. (goodies or handmade item, I'll have the final say on what the item will be) Also, be on the lookout for some new feature posts coming this week. I’ll be starting a "Must Do Monday" featuring great ideas I’ve seen in blog land and want to try and a “Tried it Out Thursday” showing things I’ve tried out that were inspired by others. I’m also think
