Craft room bar stool makeover

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. It does not cost you to click through but if you make  a purchase from my link, I may earn a small commission.   I hinted a few weeks ago that my hubby built a new craft table for me and I'm redoing my craft room/office. I'm not yet ready to reveal the table because we assembled it in place in the room and I've got to finish the rest of the room before taking photos.   I can share my new stool that I redid to go with the table. The table is counter height so I needed a bar stool for the times I want to sit and work.     I picked up one in good shape at a local thrift shop. Here's the before:   It was still in good shape as is, but I wanted something fun and bright to go with my table.  So I cleaned it, painted it with some left over paint from the table project, and then put a new seat on it. The paint was a flat interior. The Home Depot associate recommended that I go with flat paint since I

WIWW- White dress, two ways

I recently purchased a coral blazer and had tossed it across my cedar chest with other items that needed to be put away. It was lying across a mint shirt and white jacket and I loved the color combination. It inspired an outfit with the blazer, a white dress and mint necklace. However, there was one problem- I didn't own a white dress or mint necklace. A couple of weeks later, I was in Belk's and scored a cute white dress on clearance for $15.39! Of course it went home with me and Sunday I wore it with the blazer to church. I still don't have the mint accessories so I went with turquoise.   Dress- Belk; Blazer- Forever 21; shoes- TJMaxx   For evening services, I made the dress a little more casual and wore it with sandals and a vest belted over it. You can see the inspiration for this version here .   Dress- Belk; vest- Old Navy; belt/shoes- Target Linking up to WIWW .

12 Chalkboard projects

It's back to school time so what's more fitting than a round up of chalkboard projects. Now that I've finally given in and made my own (seen here), I'm hooked and definitely plan on doing more things with chalkboard paint and labels. I've got some leftover materials from a dresser redo that will be perfect for this:   Chalkboard place mats   Love these bright colorful chalkboards, and of course, everything is more sophisticated on a pedestal Pedestal chalkboards   A table for the kiddies to play and draw, or use it for outdoor decor     Chalkboard table   I'm currently using my small chalkboard outside, but I'd love a larger one for the narrow wall on the end of our porch     Outdoor welcome sign   How cute are these chalkboard pendants     Chalkboard necklaces       Bezel frame Chalkboard necklaces   Give a gift and message in one with these candles     Chalkboard candles

Mug rack to jewelry holder

Disclaimer: This post contains an affiliate link to Amazon. Clicking or purchasing won't cost you any additional money but helps support my blog.      I have my jewelry stored in a plastic hanging divided organizer made for jewelry in he closet but some of it doesn't fit well in the pockets, particularly bracelets, so I wanted to come up with a new storage solution. I'm not a fan of some of DIY jewelry holders because I think it's just plain tacky to have a jewelry holder out as decor and I don't really have a place for some of the ideas I've seen. I finally decided I could give in a little and that having a few bracelets out on the dresser would be okay. Having made this decision, I was thrilled when I found this beauty, uh ugly duckling, at our Salvation Army thrift store for $1.   It took me a bit to decide on a color. I'd have loved a bright yellow or turqouise, but that would really clash with our bedroom decor. I was strolling thr

WIWW- Floral skirt

Sweater- Gap; tank- Old Navy; skirt- Old Navy wedges- Ross Worn Aug. 4, 2013   Confession time- I bought this skirt last year and it has been hanging there with the tags on it since then. Until a couple of weeks ago when I wore it to church. Do you have anything new hanging in your closet unworn? Just to make me feel better, I'll say its only this piece and a jacket purchased from the thrift store that I intended to add some embellishment too.   I always had visions of creating a look like Kendi's with this skirt and sweater. I'm calling this a fail because I really don't like the fit of this sweater, especially now that I've lost weight. It's huge around the middle and makes me look bigger. Maybe I should put the sweater in the Goodwill bag and start over. I've really learned that proper fit makes a huge difference in how you look. Not just too little, but too big as well.   Linking up with WIWW .

9 Painted furniture transformations

The hubby and I are currently working on updating a couple of pieces of furniture with paint. You can probably guess from my round up here that one is an old dresser. I've learned that painting is a practice in patience. I'm ready to be done, and we're down to some touch ups and top coats but there are things that you can't control sometimes. So... until I complete my own, here are 9 ideas for transforming furniture with paint.   via Power of Paint     Yellow dresser     Green painted dresser     Red dresser       Two colors of blue     Grey with white lines     Distressed white dresser Desk makeover     Side table makeover

Peach pie smoothie

I'm still working on large projects for my new and improved craft room and I haven't put the new craft table to use yet, so here's a recipe from my archives that I haven't shared. It's very similar to the peach pie popsicles , but you can skip the freezing step. I actually stumbled on this at the beginning of the year when I was reading a recipe for another smoothie. That recipe called for coconut water and I didn't have it, so I decided to just add the spices to my usual recipe. Mmm... so glad I did.   To make yourself a peach pie smoothie, you'll need:   1/2 to 3/4 cup almond milk 1 cup frozen peaches 1/8 tsp or more to taste of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg   Blend together and enjoy!   Sharing here: Think Pink Sundays * Under the Table and Dreaming * Sundae Scoop * Suburb’s Mama Sunday link * DIY Sunday Showcase * Craftomaniac Monday * Make the Scene Monday * Masterpiece Monday * Motivate Me Monday * Market Yourself Monday
