DIY hoop ornaments from an old sweater

One of my most popular post is 10 ways to repurpose an old sweater. Here is one more way to use on old sweater, particularly an old tacky holiday sweater- make hoop ornaments.

I was perusing a holiday magazine and saw this idea. I remembered that I had purchased this sweater from Goodwill for Valentine's projects that never were completed. It has a snowflake pattern and was perfect for these ornaments. This is also a super easy and quick project for this busy time of year. Here's what you need:

Old sweater

3 inch embroidery hoops

I purchased my hoops from CraftyWoolFelt and received them promptly! Quicker than checking over and over with Michael's who was out of stock. (I'm not receiving anything to promote CraftyWoolFelt but will quickly promote small business when I'm a happy customer.)

I started by cutting off the sleeve of the sweater and then cutting out a snowflake section. I separated the hoop and centered the snowflake inside then put the hoop back together. I trimmed the excess on the back side. Then I added a little ribbon and a hanger. Done! See -quick and easy for this busy holiday season.

I also used a section of the plain pattern of the sweater. We are doing an old school tradtional theme on our tree this year and these hoop ornaments fit perfectly.
