Sour cream pound cake -lower fat and sugar

I'm not bragging or anything, but I made that beautiful cake! I made it on Saturday for our Mother's Day meal on Sunday. I used the following recipe from Cooks.com.

1 box Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix
1c. Plain flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. milk
3 eggs
8 oz. sour cream
1 stick butter

Here are the ingredients I used to cut the fat and sugar:

1 box Pilsbury lower sugar yellow cake mix
1 c. plain flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 c. skim milk
3 eggs
8 oz. fat free sour cream
1 stick butter

Mix dry ingredients. Beat eggs, sugar, and butter. Add sour cream. Alternating flour mixture and milk, add to first mixture, beating slowly. Bake in well greased, floured tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown. ( I had to bake for almost an hour and 1/2. )

Try it. It's yummy! I'll be linking up to some of these parties:

  2. I love that you found a way to make this cake healthier. Looks like it would be good with some fruit on it, too.

  3. Fruit is great with this. We had it with strawberries and cool whip.

  4. That made my mouth water! AND, I just told my fam we are back on our low fat/healthy eating for the summer. I think I'm going to give this a try! I'm wondering, how about substituting Splenda for the sugar and light margarine for the butter? What do you think?
