Ribbon and ornament trees

Day 4

I hope you have been enjoying this week of Creating CHRISTmas. Click on the banner above for a link to a list of other participants and make sure you visit them as well.

Today I'm sharing some easy to make mini Christmas trees. If you saw my mantel post, you saw them displayed on my mantel.

You'll need styrofoam cones. (You could make paper cones for two of them, but I recommend a sturdier foam cone for the one with the ornaments.) I used 7 and 9 inch cones. You'll also need an assortment of small ball ornaments, ribbon, and other picks or embellishments.

For the first one, I randomly glued on a few ornaments and then made rows of my ribbon in between. Take the ribbon and make sort of a half loop and twist it and make another half loop and continue around the cone in this manner. Secure the ribbon to the cone at the twists. I used straight pins. Add in other embellishments. I used a few berry picks and some star tinsel garland from Target. I stopped about two inches from the bottom and covered the bottom of the cone with strips of ribbon.

The next tree is simply ribbon and tinsel garland wrapped around the cone. I secured it with straight pins. If I ever get tired of it, I can easily remove the ribbon and reuse the cone.

The last tree is decorated with ribbon and chenille stems. I placed the ribbon first and glued a stem to each side of the ribbon.  I did this in four sections around the cone. In the middle of the blank sections, I added more tinsel garland.  It's topped with a glitter light bulb ornament from a pick I got from Target and more of the tinsel garland.

Three easy but fancy trees!

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be sharing here:
