New challenges

I found another challenge blog this weekend and decided to play along. It's called Stampin for the weekend and the challenge was to use one of three 60's song titles for inspiration. Just the title, no words, which is a good thing for me since I didn't know any of them. I went with Time of the Season - Zombies. Since it's now the summer season I used this cute little penquin from Imaginisce and these bright Lime Ricky papers. Thanks for looking. Sorry to be so brief, gotta go to work.

Two in one

Given the limited time I have, I often combine challenges. This one combines two: Whiff of Joy challenge and Friday Sketchers . This was my first time paper piecing with my stamps. I have done this with patterns before but not my stamps. I should do this more often. Here's a little tip for you. I didn't have any flowers to match, so I colored white ones with my markers. This is an easy way to always have matching or coordinating embellishments! Stamps: Whiff of Joy, Verve Paper : HOTP; Bazill; BasicGrey Sugared Accents : Flowers, pearls Tools : Sizzix die

A Year of Flowers

Speaking of flowers, I'm a little behind in posting my card because I've spent the morning mulching flower beds. We decided to invest in rubber mulch this year. Wal-mart ran out of the color we were using last month and just got some in. So, I've been out in this dreadful heat trying to finish that project. Melanie at Hands, Head, and Heart is having a "Year of Flowers " blog hop using her stamp set. I love this set. I won a stamp set in a Stamp TV challenge, so this was the one I picked. I love it- did I say that already? lol Here is my card. I used the sketch from Stamps and Smiles . I cut the circle with a Nestabilities circle die. I stamped and cut out the flowers and leaves and some of them are mounted with pop dots for dimension. I did my coloring with Marvy markers. The paper is K & Co. Wild Saffron (which I scarfed for $2.49 at Michael's this weekend. It was clearanced for $4.99 and then they applied my 50% off coupon!) Thanks for looking. I'm

Staying cool

It's really hot here today, so I've stayed in and worked on some cards for some challenges. First up is my card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge. The challenge is to make something inspired by a Kim Poloson poster. I chose Over the Rainbow III. Here is my card: Stamp: Flourishes Butterfly Moments Paper : K&Co. Wild Rasberry Ink: Colorbox chalk chestnut roan Tools : Prismacolor pencils, Cuttlebug Victorian corner, Fiskars border punch, small circle punch (hole punch) I changed the color scheme but used the basic sketch of the poster. I've also discovered some new challenges and I'm going to post this card in those as well. Danni's Dreams Flutterby Wednesday -butterfly or fairy All Sorts - winged Next I chose to play with the sketch at Taylored Expressions . I used a pink and green color theme for the Secret Crafter Saturday challenge and made a celebration card for Simons Says . To fit the Charisma Cardz challenge I added some rhinestones to my

Man's Best Friend

I'm back to share my project for the Verve project parade. When I was home for Mother's Day, I took some pictures of my Daddy's "Angel". He seemed to be interested in how they turned out, so I decided that I would frame one for him for Father's Day. I shopped for a dog frame and couldn't find one I liked. Then Verve posted the new project parade theme- It's a guy thing, and I knew what I had to do- make my own. What is more of a guy thing than "Man's best friend." I purchased an unfinished wood scrapbook frame from Michael's. Here is the result of my efforts. I didn't use a Verve stamp because I don't have any guy themed ones, but I thought this Simple Thoughts- Dog from a Cloud 9 Design set was perfect for my project and some future pet pages and frames I plan to do. Paper : My Mind's Eye Classic Unique Shining Star/Molding Clay Paper Stamp : Cloud 9 Design Simple Thoughts- Dog Other supplies : stickers, ribbon (Michael

Be still...

and know that I am God. So hard to do in this world. I found myself thinking that I'm glad it's almost Friday, but why should I be in such a rush? Every day is the Lord's and it should be cherished. "Be still" is the stamp set from Sweet n Sassy Stamps that I used for this card. I'm learning to color with my Prismacolor pencils that I bought last year (?) - I have so much, I forget when I actually got them. Anyway, I'm still learning to color with pencils. I must say that if you have Prismacolor pencils, I recommend their colorless blender pencil. I got much smoother results. I'm sure the paper has a lot to do with it too. I got some GinaK Pure Luxury 120lb cardstock and I'm having better results with my markers too. I will say this- I don't like the blue sky background. Even with a set of 24, my choices for a blue sky are limited. I will be looking for another shade of blue for future use. I used the sketch at Friday sketchers this week. This

Round and round

This week's challenge at Dutch Dare Card Challenge is to make a card that would cheer a child and send it to Post Pals . I made this fun little round card using this cute dragon from High Hopes. It also fits High Hopes challenge this week to use circles. I used four! I hope that's enough. ( You can also take a peek at another card I made based on this sketch HERE I know I'm a little late with posting, but it's always nice to send a card to a child, whether it's for a challenge or not, so why not visit Post Pals and send a card too?

Mini tote

The latest challenge at Caardvarks is to make a 3D project. I made a cute little tote to submit for this. These totes can be made with one sheet of 8.5 x 11 in cardstock. I love making them. I also plan to make goodies featuring this same image to fill it with and will probably list it in the shop. If you're interested, keep watching for the completed package. Paper : BasicGrey sugared Stamp : Willow with flower basket (Whiff of Joy) Tools: Marvy Markers, chalk, Fiskars treading water punch, Nestabilities Accents : Ribbon for handles; flower, brad Thanks for looking and commenting. I'm amazed at the number of visitors I've had to my meager little blog. If you visit, don't be shy, leave me a comment and let me know. Someone is making that counter go up, and I appreciate it.

Bearing gifts

Today I'm quickly sharing a card I made to fulfill a few challenges. It's based on the sketch for this week's challenge at High Hopes and uses one of their stamps. I also made a frame with my Nesties dies for the Flourishes challenge . The color scheme is for the Charisma Cardz challenge to use pink and brown. I had a brand new pack of paper by We are Memory Keepers and it fit the bill for this. Convo me with the word "Father" when you make your purchase and wait for a revised invoice.
