Rocking in Red

Another post, really quick. Here is my card for Stamp Something . The challenge is a sketch this week. I also participated in the color challenge at the Little Paper Shop blog . And did I mention the beginning of yet another challenge blog? One with great store prizes? Yep, Simon Says Stamp Store is starting a challenge blog . Check it out! Spread the word for some candy!

Puttin on the Glitz

I haven't been able to participate in the sketch challenge at the sweetest thing lately, so I decided that this week I would fit it in. Much to my surprise Sunday when I checked in on the sketch, I found out there is candy involved. Karen is celebrating over 100k hits and being published. Way to go girl! Check out the sketch and candy HERE. Now my card I used Bazzill cardstock for the base and pebblesinc Easter time patterned paper. The butterfly is cut with a Sizzix die and accented with rhinestones and acrylic stones. I found those acrylic stones in the bead section at Wal-mart. I also embellished the butterfly and yellow square with some faux stitching for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge.

Candy for a cause

Jen Tapler is hosting a big blog candy challenge. Read all about the candy HERE . You have to create a card and mail to to her. The best part about the whole thing is that the cards will be used in an auction to raise money for Alzheimer's. I love it when I can make cards and support good causes. You have a few days left to get in on the candy, and plenty of time to send a card even if you're not interested in the goodies. Here is my card. I based it on the Mojo Monday week 79 sketch. Stamps : Heidi Grace; Studio G sentiment Paper: Hot off the Press Tools : embossing powder, heat gun, Marthat Stewart Doily punch Accents : Ribbon (Offray)

Casing (for candy and a celebration)

Laura at Scrapnextras is celebrating 300,000 hits! If you've ever visited her blog, you aren't surprised that so many people would visit. She makes the most gorgeous creations and has great tutorials and advice. She is giving away some candy in honor of her milestone. To enter you have to CASE a card of hers and post HERE. The card I chose to case is HERE and, well, mine does not even compare. I'm not really happy with these results, but I'm going to post anyway and move on. Stamp : Starving Artist Tools : Martha Stewart lace doily punch; Marvy Markers; Sizzix textures #3 plate; Nestabilities Accent: Ribbon This card also has embossing, which is the Timeless Tuesday challenge this week .

Sketch card

Here is another sketch challenge card I completed. It's for Jen's Sketch for You to Try . I really wanted to use this new whiff of joy stamp so I rotated the sketch to fit the image. The challenge over at High Hopes is to use buttons, so I used them in the flowers in the circles on the sketch. Thanks for visiting. Stamp: Whiff of Joy Willow with flower basket ; Verve sentiment Paper : Pebblesinc Easter Time Flower/ Pink Dot Accents : flowers, buttons Tools: 1 in. circle punch ; Marvy Markers

The birds are singing..

Birds are singing and stirring. I know it's spring when I hear them and start finding their new nests. The challenge at Stamp Something was to create something that makes you think spring. That's one of the things I think about- birds, so I created a card with this bird stamp. I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner . Paper : BasicGrey vagabond Stamp : Martha Stewart; Verve sentiment Tools: Nestabilities; Marvy Markers; chalk Accents : Fiber (EkSuccess)

A thank you for Mother

I'm jumping ahead to Mother's Day. Actually I just started with some BasicGrey sugared papers and the sketch at CPS this week and thought that these colors were expressive of a mother's tender care. I had this sticker that fit the card design, so I put it together as a Mother's Day Card. Here it is: Paper: BasicGrey Tools: Nestabilities labels two die; Fiskars treading water punch Accents: Ribbon; sticker (sticko); pearls (Michael's) Don't forget to check out my ebay auctions! Thanks.
In keeping with this month's St. Patrick's Day themes, this week we take a look at the Celtic cross. According to some, St. Patrick superimposed a sun, a powerful Irish symbol, onto the Christian cross to create what is now called a Celtic cross, so that veneration of the symbol would seem more natural to the Irish. Here are some that I found at etsy.com Celtic Souls - Original Oil Painting, Framed by lynncyart Pewter Celtic Cross Pendant on Distressed Leather Cord by solcreations1 Celtic stone 3d cross cool international tshirt by TshirtShack123 Celtic Cross Cell Phone Charm by PurplePup

Another 4 in 1

I've managed to complete another 4 challenges in one card! Again, I started with the Verve sketch (week 3). I used some very old papers from my stash. I don't even know who made these papers. When I first started scrapbooking, I bought many paper lots off ebay not knowing they were probably outdated then, so I have lots of old, "out of style" papers in my stash. That was the basis for the Three Clovers challenge this week. I also used ribbon, which is the challenge at Flourishes and the Saturday Challenge was a cake theme. This card covers them all! A few details: The stamp is by Verve. I coated the top of the cupcake with Stickles. I did some faux stitching with a white gel pen and a blue marker. Thanks for stopping by. Check out my ebay auctions too !

How many...

challenges can you fit into one card? Well, I've got four on this one! First of all, it started with the Verve sketch with a twist challenge at SCS. This is week one's sketch. I know, week 3 is out, and I'm a bit behind with these. Next, the color scheme was inspired by the inspiration challenge at Three Clovers Designs (go take a look at that gorgeous cake!) High Hopes issued a challenge to use no patterned paper (a tough one for me) and finally, Little Paper Shop Blog has a challenge going on to use stitching. My white faux stitching was also inspired by the cake! So... here's the card. Paper: BasicGrey Urban Prairie Stamp : Verve Accents : buttons Tools : Cuttlebug D'vine swirls embossing folder, Big Shot, flower pun ch

Acceptable mistakes

Ever try to make a quick card or project, only to have it go wrong and take more time than planned? That's what happened with this card. I wanted to do some machine stitching but the machine would not cooperate. I could not get the tensions set right. So I ripped out the stitches and instead of starting all over, I have piercing on my card instead. I even stitched a second row of holes on purpose. I decided that it made this card a little "shabby" and therefore, is acceptable. I made this card using the sketch at the Flourishes blog . Paper : Making Memories Stamp : Verve; Heidi Grace Accents : Lace; pearls (Michael's); Stickles Tools : Martha Stewart lace doily punch; Fiskars decorative edge cloud scissors

Challenge cards

This is my first time playing in a Cuttlebug Challenge . This is the Cuttlebug and Sassy-Stamp Glitter be Inspired #22. It is sponsored by Sweet N Sassy stamps. You must use glitter with an image, and of course, Cuttlebug. I stamped my image in glue and then glittered it. My Cuttlebug piece is the vintage corner. Stamps are by Verve. And that's my new BasicGray Marrakech paper! I shared this one earlier, but I totally forgot to note that I had used the zig zag punch just for the High Hopes Challenge . So here's my card again.

Friday feature- Lucky Clovers

St. Patrick's Day brings about images of clovers, or shamrock, celebrated by the Irish for good luck. Here are some "lucky" finds at etsy. Ahhh...white space

I usually don't leave much white on my cards, but since this challenge at Flourishes was to make the sentiment a focal point, I thought the white would have a nice effect. Now... if I had just done a better job stamping that sentiment. I used the sketch from the Jacksonbelle contest on their blog as my design. Paper: BasicGrey Urban Prairie; Bazzill cardstock Stamp : Verve Accent : Ribbon (Michael's)

Learning new things

Last Wednesday the new video at Stamptv was all about coloring with colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits. I have to admit I have read about this before and was a little intimated. I thought that was something I could not do, but after watching Gina's video and trying it, I'm amazed at how easy it is. I colored an image using this technique and used the sketch at Stamps and Smiles to make a card. Here it is: Paper : Paper Adventures; HOTP, Bazzill cardstock Stamps : Unknown flower image; sentiment- Verve Tools : Martha Stewart Border Punch Accents : Brads

Quick card

I quickly threw this together for the Limelight papercrafts challenge . Stamp : Happy Easter- Inkadinkado Paper : Making Memories Garden Party Accents: Making Memories cardstock sticker; ric-rac Tools : scalloped square punch; Martha Stewart zig zag punch

I love Verve!

Verve stamps have quickly become one of my favorites and I love all the challenges they host. Here are two cards I made last night for Mojo Monday and a special challenge from the Verve blog. The "springing forward" caught me and I didn't have time to post them last night. This one is for Mojo Monday 76. I'm also doubling this for the Timeless Tuesday challenge at Flourishes. The challenge is to use Spellbinders. Stamps : cupcake-Verve Paper : Basic Grey Urban Prairie Accent : Ribbon (Michael's); Making Memories crystal brad Tools : Nestabilities label die The second card is for the Verve release challenge . Friday Feature- Seeing green

March holds the holiday of St. Patrick's Day. Who is he? March 17 is the date of his death. He was actually born British but captured by the Irish at age 16. He escaped but returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary. Read more here .. Since green is the symbolic color and thought to bring luck when worn on St. Patrick's Day, or pinches when not worn, here are some great etsy "greens." Good friends are worth the effort

Good friends are really worth the effort, and boy in today's world, doesn't it take some effort to maintain those relationships, with everything we have going on and everyone being "all about me?" Anyway, I won't digress to far from the purpose here- I'm sharing a card I made for the Stamper's Dream monthly challenge. The challenge is to make a monochromatic card. I think mine qualifies for the most part. I used shades of blue. I used the MFT sketch for this week, which can be found in the MFT forum at Splitcoaststampers . Paper : Doodlebug Stamp : My Favorite Things Accents : Ribbon, pearls (Michael's)

A fancy flower

I created a card for an upcoming birthday using card sketch 84 at Sketches! { by Tamara} . The Timeless Tuesday challenge at the Flourishes blog was to use vellum. I die cut some of the flower layers from green vellum. When I first started scrapbooking and cardmaking, I thought I just HAD TO HAVE vellum, so I have plently and rarely use it anymore. I'm glad I ran across a challenge that encourages me to use it. Paper: Bazzill cardstock, Hot off the Press patterned paper Stamp : Inkadinkado Accents : Making Memories Blossoms and Buttons flower and button Tools: Martha Stewart lattice border punch, Sizzix Flower Layers #3, Cuttlebug funky circles die Thanks for visiting. If you came straight to this post, go to the top and check out some things from my stash I have for sale. I'll make you a great deal!
