It's Friday!

And I'm so glad. I haven't done much posting or creating this week because I have been sick. Maybe I can rest and get well this weekend. I am going to designate Fridays as my day to feature items from my shop or other Etsy items or shops. So with that said, here is my Friday feature: It's only three weeks until spring. This bright and cheery card (for sale in my shop) is a nice way to let someone know you are thinking of them. Send that special person a note and let them know you look forward to doing something with them in the enjoyable days of spring. This card is hand-stamped. It features paper flowers and a simple strand of gingham ribbon.

New supplies

I went to Michael's this weekend because hubby wanted some supplies for a project he plans to do. So of course I hit the dollar bins. Here is what I got: Isn't this ribbon adorable? I also got this ribbon and I'm thinking of using it on a project, maybe a card, with my Autumn Leaves clear stamps, swirls and flourishes by rhonna farrer. I'll let you know what I come up with later.

Rockin Birthday card

I just finished making birthday cards for the neighbors' girls. They have birthdays six days apart. I'm late with one of them. I thought I would share the cards with you. The first one was inspired by a card with the same sentiment published in the March 2008 PaperCrafts Magazine. I made it my own with different colors and stickers. I printed "hope your birthday" on beige cardstock with "Da Bomb" font. (I have so many fonts - I forgot where I got this one.) I also used Making Memories handwriting stickers, a guitar and record from Karen Foster The Fifties, and a Design Lines sticker from Mrs. Grossman's . I mounted the beige piece on a 5x7 card made from pink cardstock. I think I did pretty good using my "stash" for this. The second card was designed using a sketch from splitcoaststampers.com. I used more stuff from my stash. The paper came from a lot I bought at Ebay and I have no idea what brand it is. The cute ribbon I got at Target in the d...

I did it!

I ran the Breast Cancer Marathon (26.2miles!) on Sunday, February 17th. Whew! It was hot- above 80 degrees- but what an awesome experience. And thanks so much to the community of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. You guys are great! All the encouragement, water, Poweraid, cold rags, and water sprinklers are what got me through. After training for a marathon and running a half marathon three years ago, I still had the full marathon as a personal goal and when I saw this one announced in the Jeff Galloway newsletter, I knew this had to the be one. All of the entry fee went to the Mayo Clinic and the Donna Hicken Foundation to fight breast cancer. The experience is more than running a marathon. I'll be back for that run again. My hubby walked the half-marathon. He would have been running but he had some surgery recently and isn't allowed to run. He snapped this cool shot after he finished.

New at this

Well.. here goes my first post. This blogging thing is new for me and since I was never good at nor really tried to keep a journal when I was younger, I don't know how well this will work out. The few times that I kept a diary, I'd look back and feel so stupid or silly for the things I thought so I'd throw the diary away. If you come here and the blog has been deleted- you'll know what happened. Hopefully this endeavor will make me a better writer and better at journaling in my scrapbooks (I have a few years to catch up on!)
